Delta Bear (Rogue Bear Series 2)
sleeping under the desert sky.
“I’ve got more,” he growled in her ear.
Her arms flew around his neck as she arched toward him. “Good. Tell me that means you’re going to fuck me again.”
He held back the roar rumbling in his chest. “Oh, I am.”

J ax drove to the cabin , his bear feeling a new kind of calm. He parked in front of the house and jogged up the steps. He didn’t know how long he had before he would be called back to Razastan, but he would need to prepare Haley for her alpha duties.
Once he told her she was now his mate, the fate of the clan would change. The wars would stop. He would leave her in charge.
He stripped down and stepped in the shower. The water felt good.
He knew he’d never met a woman like her before. She was smart and strong. Opinionated and sweet. Kind and thoughtful. He smiled, lathering his solid chest with soap.
He promised he would pick her up this afternoon and bring her back to the cabin for the night. Now that he had found her, he wanted her under his protection. Tonight he would tell her everything.
He reached for a towel and dried off. For another bear the fact that she might not be able to have cubs would make her undesirable, but it was the best scenario he could have imagined. With no cubs, he could stay in Delta Force. He could be with his mate when he was home and leave knowing she could take care of herself.
He felt a twitch in his chest. His bear wasn’t happy with the prospect of no cubs. But he remembered what Haley said. It was possible, she would just need fertility treatments. Maybe one day when he was retired from Special Forces they could go down that road.
Right now it meant she could lead the clan in his absence. Cubs would come later. Much later.

Haley
S he let the water wash through her hair. The shower felt good. She smiled. She’d never had a night like the one with Jax. She loved how he took control of her body. It was unbelievable.
What was more unbelievable was that he was already making plans for tonight. She had assumed it was a fling. Two strangers letting out lonely frustration. Ending the loneliness for a night. But when she woke up with his arms wrapped around her, she didn’t feel like it was a one-time thing. It felt deeper. She felt as if her body somehow belonged to him.
She turned off the shower and twisted her hair in a towel. Tonight she’d be in his bed. It made her hot just thinking about it. She walked to her room to dress and pack. Jax would be back to pick her up in an hour.

A s they drove along the private drive, he kept looking at her. Haley smiled, wondering what was on his mind. His eyes drifted back to the road.
There was something behind his eyes she couldn’t figure out. For two years he had been part of a special operations unit. He couldn’t talk about what he did. It had to be weighing on him. The secrecy of his life.
    “All right. Here we are.”
He put the truck in park and grabbed her bag from the bed of the truck.
Haley smiled when he opened the door for her. “Thanks.”
He threaded his fingers through hers and led her up the front porch steps. “Home sweet home.” He pushed open the front door.
She had been here two days ago, but this was different. Then, he had been an unknown name on a volunteer project list. Today he was the man who had rocked her body until she was blazing embers in his arms.
“I’ll put your bag in the bedroom.” He walked down the short hallway.
She wondered what he had planned for their afternoon. He seemed anxious and preoccupied.
    “Are you hungry?” he asked.
“Food does sound good.” She smiled. If Jax was about to cook for her, she would know she was witnessing a mirage.
He turned for the kitchen. “I bought all these groceries the other day.” He stopped as he was about to open the refrigerator. “Wait. That’s who the anonymous caller was.”
    “Huh?”
“You said an anonymous caller put my name on the list for the Help A
