The Cowbear's Christmas Shotgun Wedding (Curvy Bear Ranch 3)
stood next to her, completely naked. Thick veins ran down the sides of his rigid shaft. The mushroom-shaped head stood like a crown on his cock.
    She couldn’t stop staring.
    “Lie back,” he whispered.
She obeyed, enraptured by his massive cock. It wasn’t until he was leaning over her, poised to enter, that she snapped out of the enchantment.
Her voice wavered. “There’s something I need to tell you.”
    “What?”
    “I’ve never done this before.”

“What?” Logan reared back, stunned by her revelation.
    “I’m a… I’m a virgin.”
“Holy shit. How is that possible?” he asked.
“I guess I just never had the chance,” she mumbled.
“But you’re so incredibly hot. I can’t believe it.”
No fucking way, she couldn’t be a virgin. Jesus, he’d almost taken her virginity in a sex-crazed moment of weakness. Damn him for letting his bear take over.
    “It’s true.” She looked away.
“How could you go so long and not have sex?” He rolled onto his side and propped up on one arm to look at her.
“No one ever wanted me.” The tremble in her voice brought a wave of compassion into his heart.
“That’s not true. I wanted you.”
“What?” Her gaze snapped to his face.
“I wanted you when we were in high school,” he said.
“You were a complete jackass to me.”
“When you’re popular, you’re expected to be a dick to anyone who doesn’t fit in.”
“You made my life a living hell.” She yanked the sheet across her body.
“I know. And I’m sorry. If I could go back and do things over, I wouldn’t have been such a coward.”
    “A coward?”
“Yeah. Only cowards mistreat people. I was a coward and I’m very sorry.”
“Is that why you wanted to help me fix up the house?” she asked.
“When I heard you were back in town, I wanted to find a way to make up for the terrible things I said to you in high school.” He hung his head in shame. “I especially want to make up for the prom.”
She sat up and pushed back until she was sitting against the headboard. “I only owned one dress—one—and you turned me into the laughingstock of school.”
    “I know.”
“I had nothing else to wear. It was my senior prom. I had to go alone because no one wanted me, but I wanted to go to one dance.” Her voice cracked. “I’d been dreaming about going to the prom my whole life and I’d finally gotten up the courage to go alone. And then you ruined it.”
“I had no idea how much it meant to you.”
“That was my mother’s wedding dress. It was the only dress we owned. I had nothing else.”
“I never knew.” A pit of sorrow developed in his gut.
“We were poor. We had nothing. That’s why I wore the same two pairs of pants and three shirts all year. It’s all I had.”
“I never really thought about what life was like for you.”
“That’s because you were a typical, self-absorbed, high school jerk.” She sighed. “That was years ago, Logan. I’m over it.”
He wanted to ask if she was really over it. Had she left town because of him, or was it because of her family?
“I’m tired. I need a nap. Go home.” She rolled away from him.
He reached for her shoulder, then stopped in mid-air. What was he doing? He’d already tried to take advantage of her when she was in physical pain. Was he really such a jerk that he’d try to take advantage of her emotional pain too?
As he slid off the bed, he silently cursed himself for being such an ass. He didn’t deserve a woman like Kate. He should have known better than to jump into her bed. If all the one-night stands had taught him something, it had been that relationships were less messy that way. Wham, bam, thank you ma’am. That had been his MO for years. Why change it now?
He yanked up his boxers and stuffed his still-hard cock inside. He’d just have to endure the discomfort as a penance for his stupidity. Maybe later he’d go into town and find a hot tourist. His bear snarled with
