calls last night. In his drunken haze, he’d felt rather belligerent. In the daylight sporting a headache, he felt like a chump. That probably also was in part because he had woken up alone.
“You didn’t check your messages?” Cage pressed. He wasn’t going to let his young clan member off lightly. He needed to know that people were counting on him.
“I—uh—got distracted.” Wow, that even sounded pathetic to Angel.
“Angel, I see how much potential you have. Just imagine if you put a little energy into enjoying this job. I know it’s not your dream to run errands here, but we are relying on you. Your job makes a difference to a lot of people. They need to know that you aren’t going to let them down.”
Now he really felt like shit.
He’d woken up feeling so fucking amazing that his bear was poking him to wake up. The smell of sex and coconut filled the motel room, and it immediately made his dick hard. Rolling over, he expected to find a soft willing female. Instead, he found cold sheets.
How the hell a human had snuck out on him he didn’t know. Shifter senses his ass. Even his bear was fuck drunk and hadn’t heard her leave.
He’d rolled back and tried to remember her name. Becks was the only thing that came to mind. He could remember her smell, the soft curves of her skin and her taste, damn him, her taste was burned onto his tongue. Sweet and savory, he wanted to eat her awake for his breakfast. That clearly wasn’t going to happen.

“ D o it again , Angel. I like it; it feels so good.”
“What do you like about it? Tell me.”
“It feels so good it makes my pussy ache. Then it hurts, and that makes my nipples ache,” she admitted.
“Good girl, that’s just what I want it to feel like. Hot and cold, hard and soft, and everything in between,” he said roughly.
He repeated his bruising kisses over her body, adding nips and dragging his teeth over her skin. His bear for some reason was enjoying this game of marking the woman and was encouraging him to continue. Angel knew he couldn’t really bite her, like a mating bite, but he could play like he was.

O nce his bear had come to terms with the fact that she was clearly gone and not coming back, he had showered and headed into work. His animal grumbled in his head the entire time.
“You seem like you’re far away. Is it just too much whiskey or something else?”
Ever insightful his Alpha was. Looking into the eyes of the man that he respected more than anyone he said, “I met a girl last night. Well, not a girl, a woman.”
“Ahh, that explains the lateness,” Cage said with a small smile.
“Yeah, but my bear won’t shut up about her. He’s causing a serious ruckus and wants to go find her.” The minute he’d headed into work, his animal started telling him in no uncertain terms that they should be looking for the woman that smells like a tropical paradise.
“Well, that’s interesting. I mean you saw her, so you know she’s not your mate. I wonder why he’s so interested?” Cage pondered.
“Sure, I saw her, I mean I was drunk and all, but of course, she’s not my mate. I’m only twenty-one. You were almost fifty when you found Sophie.”
“Hey, I’m a young fifty, thank you. But you know your mate. The moment your eyes meet, it hits you like a ton of bricks. There is no doubt in this universe that the woman in front of you was meant only for you. I can tell you there is no accidental mating or unclear signs. It is what it is. You’ll never forget the first time your eyes meet.”
Angel watched Cage’s eyes start to glaze over like he was recalling the first encounter with this mate. Angel didn’t understand that look; it was one of utter contentment and possessiveness all at the same time.
“I guess that helps. I mean I saw her, sort of.” Angel tried to picture her in his head. He remembered tits, big beautiful tits that he couldn’t stop staring at while they danced. Her
