usual,” Derek says
as he looks around the apartment.  “Wow! This place looks different. Not so
much the bachelor pad anymo—“
“You did!” Carly screeches from the kitchen, interrupting
our conversation. “You little whore!”
I furrow my brow. The thought of Alexis being called a whore
does not sit well with me at all, but for some reason, coming from Carly, I
manage to let it go.
Derek just shakes his head and smiles. “That girl of mine’s
mouth needs a filter...then again...” he ponders, “...I do love it dirty.”
“I don’t want to know about Carly’s dirty mouth,” I say with
certitude, all the while thinking of Alexis’ sweet mouth and the sublime thing
she just did with it.
“You just got your dick wet, didn’t you?” Derek pokes.
Ignoring the pervert’s question, I change the subject. “Want
to see the new recording studio?”
Derek rubs his hands together greedily, dismissing my
digression. “That’s what I thought. It doesn’t normally take that long for you
to answer the door. Plus, you have that I-have-a-happy-cock look on your face.”
I continue to ignore him as we make our way to the recording
studio, his reaction to my newly refurbished room soon to be my retribution for
his perverted probing.
Opening the door, I wait for it with keen anticipation.
“What the fuck? Dude, this isn’t playschool,” he says with a
crooked grin on his face and his hands resting on top of his head.
I knew the boys would find the new addition of soft teddies
and toy trucks amusing, so I inwardly chuckle to myself. “No, but when the baby
is born, he’ll need some toys to play with.”
I walk over to the computer equipment and switch it on.
“Doesn’t he have his own toy room? I mean, other than in our
recording space?”
“Of course he does, but I want to spend as much time as I
can with him after he’s born. They grow so quickly, you know. Look at Alexander.
He’s already one and a half.”
“I know how old Alexander is,” he grumbles while taking in
the new surroundings.
“Look, if I can help it, I don’t want to miss a thing.”
“I get that. But I don’t know, man. Won’t it be too loud for
him? Baby’s ears are kinda small.”
I laugh at the stupid fucker. “Of course they are small, and
anyway, I’m one step ahead of you.” I make my way over to the wicker basket on
the floor near the rug and pick up a pair of tiny, fluffy, ear muffs. “See?
It’s covered.”
At that moment, Carly and Alexis walk in carrying a couple
of beers and wine—Alexis drinking her non-alcoholic Rose wine.
“This is interesting,” Carly stutters as she takes in the
toys.
“You can say that again,” Derek mutters then turns his back
and starts typing on the keyboard.
Scanning the room and its surroundings, I feel proud and
excited, knowing my son will—in matter of weeks—be sharing this space. It
couldn’t be more perfect.
Alexis passes me my beer and stands beside me. “Yes, I know.
I told Bryce that putting toys in here was going a little overboard, but he
insisted.”
With my free hand, I slide it behind her back, stopping to
rest just above her arse. As always, she snuggles into my side.
“Overboard?” Carly questions a little sarcastically.
“There’s a freakin’ coloured ball pit over there. And is that Twister carpet?”
“Sure is. Alexis’ idea,” I say proudly before swigging my
bear. “Isn’t it great? We have it in many of our family-friendly rooms over in
the City Promenade building.”
Carly makes her way over to the colourful spotted carpet.
“It’s awesome! I want some.”
“That can be arranged,” I inform.
“I reckon the school would benefit from some as well.
Alexis, you could seriously be on to something here.”
I take another swig of my beer and gently caress Alexis’
lower back. “That’s what I told her.”
“What? No, it’s just a bit of fun.” She dismisses our
praise, and takes a casual sip of her
