and I had seen the inside of her bedroom more times than none. Christ, this was a joke. Forcefully grabbing the handle, I tore open the door but stopped the moment Savannah spoke.
    “Where are you going?”
“I am going to find someone to ‘hang out’ with.” I raised my hands and quoted the words before grabbing the room key from the table by the door and furiously walking out of the room and through the hotel, into the brightness of New York City.
I had no clue where I was going. My eyes scanned the streets around me. Alcohol — I needed scotch and fast. Hastily walking down the streets of Manhattan, I hailed a cab and gave directions to Red Velvet New York. If I couldn’t be with my girlfriend, then I’d be with my second love.
I opened the double doors and walked through the almost empty bar. Pulling out a stool, I waited to order a scotch on the rocks. My thoughts were running a mile a minute.
“What can I get you, handsome?” a husky voice asked from in front of me. My eyes left their gaze on the wooden bar top and scanned up. Her nametag said her name was Alexis. She was wearing a shirt that left little to the imagination, the familiar logo of Red Velvet on full display.
    “Scotch, no ice.”
“We have to give you ice.”
“I own this bar so you don’t need to give me ice.”
Hesitation flashed over her face as she tried to work out if I was spilling lies or telling the truth.
“Scotch, no ice.” My words were direct. She rushed around the bar, pulling my favorite Scotch from the top shelf. Her eyes flashed to mine as she poured the delicious amber liquid into a glass and slid it in front of me. The moment it touched my lips, I felt my tension dissipate.
“I thought you worked at the Los Angeles bar.”
    “I do.”
“What are you doing over here then?”
“Do you always ask this many questions?”
“Only to people I am interested in.” She pursed her lips and leaned back on the bench behind the bar. The look in her eye was one I was very aware of. She was ready to play.
“You do realize I am technically your boss.”
    “That hasn’t stopped me before.”
The truth was that even though I was her boss and she was working for my bar, it would never have stopped me before either. Man-whore Tate would have been flirting with her like his life depended on it. He would have been already planning on them hooking up. Shit, he probably would have already been behind the bar, with his hand up her skirt. But as I looked at her now, as my eyes roamed over her I felt nothing. Yes, she was cute, but she wasn’t Savannah. My Savannah was in a hotel room across town furious at me, pissed off at my reaction and alone. What the hell was I doing here?
“I have to go and fuck my girlfriend.” Standing from the stool, the sound of metal scrapping the floor echoed through Red Velvet NY as I pushed away from the bar. I left the girl I now knew as Alexis with her mouth hanging open. I had one thing in mind and that didn’t include getting drunk.
As soon as I walked through the door, the scent of Savannah’s perfume saturated the air but I couldn’t see her. Where was she? I had only been gone for forty minutes, but that was a good amount of time for her to flee. My eyes scanned the empty space for any signs of my girlfriend. I was frustrated and needy, and I wanted nothing more than to have her on her back.
“So you decided to come back?” Sav’s voice floated through the air, and I whipped my head around to find her standing in the doorway leading to the balcony. Could this room be any sexier?
“Do you understand why I am pissed?”
“I didn’t hang out with Blake, and even if I did, you don’t have a say as to who I decide to hang out with.” Stubborn Savannah was out to play.
“I am your boyfriend, Sav. You know I love you, and I don’t want to tell you what to do, but fuck, I would really appreciate if you didn’t have lunch dates with Blake.” My voice was barely a whisper. I
