Caught Inside
Bill. He turned
away with his back to us swiftly, and I turned my attention back to
Charlie. I had told Zachery that I did not care if the escort was
gay; it made it all that much easier for me. He just had to not let
it be evident that his interest was not with men when he was with
me, as I was paying for him to be my escort.
I cleared my throat and directed
Charlie over to an empty seat that overlooked the ocean. I waved my
hand to get the waitress's attention that was talking with the man
whom Charlie had been checking out earlier. His attractiveness and
flirtatious nature held the waitress's attention. At this point, I
was almost sure that it was my next escort. He looked my way and
smiled. I smiled back and when Charlie turned to me from looking
out at the ocean and making a polite comment about the view, I
inadvertently raised my eyebrows at him with a forced smile. This
meeting was going to be short and sweet. I would let him down easy.
A man who compliments the view over company needed to get his
priorities straight, particularly if he was trying to get hired by
a female as her escort.
Later, as I watched Charlie drive away
with a bit of disappointment when I told him that this was not
going to happen, that was after I paid for his lobster sandwich and
chips. I turned my attention to the man, I was now sure that I was
going to be meeting in an hour at the winery just up the road. He
winked at me and paid his tab, then I watched him walk away looking
very sophisticated in his khaki shorts, leather dress sandals, a
white pressed golf shirt and a wicked smile.
I thought back to the moment that I
looked on my phone and double checked my intuition about Bill while
Charlie had a mouth full of food and still babbled about politics.
Zachery would get an email that this Charlie guy, might not bode as
well as his initial interview. That his interview skills far
surpassed his personable dating skills.
I still had an hour before meeting
Bill, and I had not touched much of my sandwich when Charlie was
here. I decided to enjoy the view and my meal in peace. When the
waitress came back to check on me, she was a bit inquisitive as to
why I was still here, but my date had gone. I cocked my head
sideways and looked up at her with a polite smile. "He wasn't my
date, just a business meeting. Can I bother you for a refill on my
drink?" She grabbed my empty ice tea drink that came in a Mason jar
and walked away with not much more to our conversation, which was
nothing like the conversation that she held with Bill earlier. This
led me to believe, before even meeting him, that Bill was the
perfect man to play my decoy. He was tall, dark haired, very
handsome and very flirtatious in a general sort of way. He
immediately caught Charlie's eye without putting out the gay vibe,
and yet he held his ground with a very interested waitress. I could
see how his social skills were honed. That, and I gave the man
credit for coming to my earlier escort interview date, just to see
who the competition was and give me a little preview of his social
skills.
All in all, it didn't hurt that he was
handsome and a great planner. My time was limited; my vote was
Bill. That is if he could show me a little something more at the
winery. Perhaps, I wouldn't need to waste my Sunday after all with
escort interview number three and instead find a way to apologize
to Trey for my abrupt behavior on the day of the interview - in
person.

Chapter Six
On the drive home from the winery, I
tried to text Zachery, but he did not answer any of his texts, and
I needed to know if Bill was available for the next two months. I
had left Bill with a sweet soft innocent kiss on the lips, a
promise that he would know my answer before tomorrow evening, as he
was available as early as Monday. I left him with a pep in my step
that I had found the perfect escort. Sexy, funny, very personable,
smart and not a single attraction vibe that could get me into
trouble. Instead, I could see
