sharp.â
âIâll be there,â said Zac. At least I get to miss out on two days of school, he thought.
There was an awkward silence. Agent Big Boss stared down at him.
âIs there something else, Agent Rock Star?â
âYes,â said Zac, pulling the holo-projector from his pocket. âI found this inside the BIG agentâs jet.â
For a second, Agent Big Bossâs eyes went wide, but he quickly recovered.
âIâd like you to give that to me, Power.â
âBut sir,â Zac began, âthis is ââ
âI know exactly what it is,â Agent Big Boss interrupted. âPlease hand it to me.â
âSir, I was hoping Leon could have a look at it.â
âNo,â said Agent Big Boss.
âBut ââ
âNo, Rock Star. Youâve got more than enough to worry about. Please give it to me.â
Zac dropped the holo-projector into Agent Big Bossâs outstretched hand.
âBut someoneâs going to look at it, right?â Zac said.
Agent Big Boss held up a hand to silence Zac. âAgent Rock Star,â he said very slowly, âI am ordering you to forget that you ever saw this holo-projector. As far as you are concerned, it never existed. Is that clear?â
âSir!â Zac said, a little too loudly. âYou canât â â
âI am the head of this spy agency, Rock Star!â Agent Big Boss boomed. âDo not tell me what I canât do! One more outburst like that and Iâll pull you off this mission altogether! Is that what you want?â
Zac glared up at Agent Big Boss. âNo, sir.â
âGood,â said Big Boss. âNow, go home and get some rest. Iâll see you back here this afternoon. I hope by then you will have remembered how to behave like a GIB agent.â
CHAPTER
THREE
Zac Power stormed up the path to his house. How dare Agent Big Boss treat me like that? Iâm his best agent!
Leon flung open the door.âThe computer chip!â he shouted at Zac. âI know what itâs for! Quick, whereâs the holo-projector?â
âBig Boss took it,â said Zac bitterly.
âWell, letâs get it back!â said Leon.
âWe canât.â
Zac walked inside and slammed the door behind him. He stomped into the lounge room and threw himself down onto the couch. He was furious.
âBut Zac,â said Leon, âthe chip you gave me unlocks that holo-projector!â
âGreat,â said Zac sarcastically. âToo bad that Big Boss told me to forget about it.â
Leon stared at him. âWhy?â
âHe wouldnât say,â Zac grumbled. âAnd he got really angry when I started asking questions.â
Leon gaped. âBut Grandpa was GIBâs best agent! Surely Big Boss wants to find him almost as much as we do.â Then his eyes went wide. âUnlessâ¦no, thatâs impossible. Thereâs no wayâ¦â âLeon!â Zac said, annoyed.
Leon took a deep breath. âUnless the reason GIB arenât investigating the holo-projector is because they already know where Grandpa is.â
âBut Grandpaâs been missing for years!â Zac protested.
âWhat if he hasnât been missing?â said Leon. âWhat if GIB knew where Grandpa was all along, but they just didnât want us to know?â
âThatâs crazy,â said Zac, shaking his head.
âWhy else wouldnât Big Boss want you to have the holo-projector?â Leon argued.
Zac fell silent. Leon had a point.
Then suddenly, Zac had a brainwave. âThe agent who was kidnapped from the Black Jungle!â he shouted, jumping up from the couch.
âHuh?â said Leon.
âI didnât rescue all the GIB agents from the jungle,â Zac explained. âOne of them was kidnapped. I told Agent Big Boss, but he didnât seem to care.â
âYou think that agent was Grandpa ?â said Leon,
