arching her back, pushing herself closer to him as he sunk deeper into her. He leaned forward, grabbing her hands and sliding them above her head, holding them as he thrust into her awaiting body. She moaned and sighed as his mouth captured hers again. Their bodies entwined, connected and pulsing with the primal needs each fulfilled of the other.
Tara could feel herself cresting, her body building up the heat deep in her stomach. Dru’s rhythm became faster and more erratic. As his thrusts became rougher, Tara yelled out as the explosion of ecstasy released through her. Dru growled deep and loud as he felt himself empty into her. His body spent for the moment, as she was filled and lay panting below him.
Dru realized his mouth was already poised at her throat, his teeth elongated, only a hair width from puncturing the delicate flesh at her throat. He had his fill earlier the day, and was reacting out of lust and not hunger, but he pulled himself back. Her eyes were heavy lidded, a sleepy smile on her bruised lips. Dru sighed as he lifted her up to pull down the velvet comforter. He couldn’t remember the last time he had slept overnight, or over the day, with someone.
Usually he had his fill, they passed out for an hour or two and then he sent them on their way. This time, he hoped he would wake to still have her in his arms. He was anxious to see those dark blue eyes fluttering open and recognize him out of the fog of slumber. He held her close as he allowed himself to put down his guard and drift to sleep with another person for the first time in several hundred years.

Tara lay naked on the cold metal surface. The uncomfortable yellow-green hue of the fluorescent lights caused her eyes to immediately want to shut, but as much as she tried, they wouldn’t move. She opened her mouth to call out, feeling the pressures of panic beginning to build in her chest. Her mouth wouldn’t open, no noise would come out.
She could faintly hear the low mumblings of people in conversation. The urge to shiver tingled along her skin, skin exposed to the cool air, naked and uncovered. The build-up of tears behind her eyes and the scream in her throat was nearly unbearable, like an itch she couldn’t scratch. She couldn’t move anything, everything was frozen as if encased in concrete.
“It’s a sad case, really. I mean, the cancer ate her up. She was a pretty girl. I think she actually used to work here.”
Tara strained to catch everything that was being said. She realized she couldn’t even hear the low thumping of her heart or slight whooshing of her own breath. She was dead, but she wasn’t. Somehow she was still alive, could still hear and feel, but she couldn’t move. They had to know. They would see her eyes open, see the fear in them and know that she was still alive.
    “Did he completely drain her?”
“Nah, took enough for the cancer to finish her off, though.”
“Damn. At least, from what I hear, that would have made it feel pretty good. They say it’s euphoric, the way their saliva or something makes you feel. So she was feeling good before she went out.”
“Yeah, probably. I would like to think that, at least. So young. She did have some of his blood in her, though. I don’t think he was trying to change her. Maybe just give her a little boost or high or something.”
    “Yeah.”
Tara’s mind was racing. She didn’t remember him biting her. He nibbled here and there, but she never felt him break the skin. She did feel his mouth on her neck, close to her pulse, right after he came. But he didn’t bite, not that she could remember. She doubted those few drops of blood would have done much anyways.
As she tried to remember as much as possible, torn between the amazing pleasure of her last memories before waking up here and the utter fear of what was happening, she saw one of the people lean over her. His hair and lower face were hidden behind the surgical scrubs. His gloved
