tonight. I was going to find concierge Ethan and torture him for information.” He laughs and even his laugh is the sexiest thing I've ever heard.
“But then you were here and it was like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders.  I almost didn’t go through with the presentation because my head was swimming with you and how I'd find you again.”  He scoots a little closer to me and I stay firmly planted. Where is that evil little pixie with my drink ?  Remember why you’re here Aubrey. He’s staring at me with those piercing blue eyes.  I can’t seem to look away, but I’m saved by the pixie with our drinks.  I take one sip, then another, before I dare try to talk.
“And you’re here. I am so glad you are here.”
“Thank God, for Ethan’s sake at least,” and there is that laugh again. Please stop doing that.  My hands feel clammy and my heart won’t stop racing. He takes a sip of his drink. Oh that face; it is so firm, chiseled, and handsome.
“The reason I did come tonight is to let you know we picked your firm for the job,” I tell him taking another sip of my martini.  The smile and the dimples show up again.  Oh no, he’s scooting toward me. No, stop, stop .  His arms engulf me with a very tight and very intimate hug. I smell his intoxicating scent. That's not just cologne, it can't be. I've never smelled anything so amazing in my life.
He’s still hugging me, his large hand rubbing up and down my back.  I finally put my arm around him to return his hug.  I feel the muscles rippling through his shirt and I can’t help my hand from roaming down his arm as he lets go of me, but doesn’t scoot away.  My hand is still on his bicep and his hand is on my knee. Our faces are very close to each other’s.
“You’re happy about the news I take it?” I finally let loose of his arm but he does not take his hand off my knee.
“Oh yeah, that’s great news. I wanted a reason to come over and hug you and you gave me the perfect reason.” He smiles that dimpled smile again. That mixed with his scent and his close proximity causes my lips to part on a gasp.  God, do I want to kiss him right now .  Instead, I take another drink turning my head away from his.
“Well that is why I came, to tell you that.  Now you know and I should be going,” I say the words, but I don’t move just yet.
“So you're going to ignore the chemistry going on between us then?” He says taking my face in his hand and turning me to face him.  His eyes are searching mine.  They are darker now, dark like a storm, and he is very serious.  His hand that is on my knee starts to travel under my skirt, his eyes never leaving mine.  My heart skips a beat and I don’t even know where the tiny moan comes from, but I think it came from me.
“Are you going to ignore this, Aubrey?” Ian smiles at the sound I just made and his hand inches up a little more. I put my hand on top of his to stop him from going any further.
“Ian, I don’t do this.  I don’t do one night stands.” I’m desperate to get out of here before I give in. I'm seconds from doing exactly that .
“Who said this is a one night stand?” His face is stone serious as he gets closer to me.  His lips brush mine, and there’s that damn moan again.  Christ Aubrey .
“I don’t want a relationship either right now, please stop.” I am pleading with him, but can’t seem to move away.
“Do you ever have sex?” He has now moved back a couple inches.
“Not in a while,” I admit, having no idea why I said that. Other than a
