ever have sex. I don’t need the headache or stress,” I began, as I paced back and forth in front of him. “I already have enough of that in my personal life. So please, respect how I feel and just stay away from me,” I said, averting my eyes from his glare. He seemed more enraged by the second, as his cool, relaxed demeanor transformed into a more tense infuriated being.
Refusing to entertain his behavior, I attempted to walk around him out the door. However, he grabbed my wrist and yanked me close so that I collided with his hard body. Once again betraying me, my body’s only response was to melt against his. He stared at me with cold eyes before he said, “You belong to me. I’m done chasing after you. That ends today,” he roared.
“I’m not your sex toy, you fucking spoiled motherfucker. Now I’m done with you,” I said through gritted teeth, as I tried to retract my wrist. He gripped tighter.
“When I’m done with you, that is when I will leave you alone,” he said in a temperamental tone before slamming his mouth against my lips.
When he finally released me with a slight nudge, I stumbled back and scurried out of the room. His threat resonated in my head, and all I wanted to do was escape this man. Nearly running down the stairs, I quickly sought out Victoria and a bar. I needed a drink to silence my nerves and to ask Victoria what I should do. Upon entering another bar station towards the dining room, I saw Victoria in the center of a group of girls that included Josephine. Her facial expression seemed to be frustrated and borderline sad.
“Hey, Victoria,” I said loudly enough to break their attention away from her. As if on cue, she walked out of the circle and quickly grasped my hand. Her palms were sweaty, and I was unsure about what made her so nervous.
As we walked into another room in search of a bar station, I immediately halted all movements as I spotted Andriano, Nicolai, and Vincenzo huddled in a corner with drinks in their hands talking to a few other guests. As if he could sense my presence, he looked up at me and halted his preexisting conversation. Andriano was still commanding in stature, as he stared at me like a predator in pursuit of his prey. I quickly diverted us out of the room without drawing attention to us. Walking into the cocktail room, I grabbed a plate and began piling it up with finger food.
“What happened to you?” she asked instantly when we sat down in the corner of the room. “You were gone for a very long time. I didn’t want to alarm my parents, so after a while I started searching for you upstairs. I think Josephine saw Andriano take you upstairs because she…” her words died on her lips as if she had revealed too much.
“She what? Tell me,” I asked.
“After I came downstairs after finding you, she cornered me with her friends and started to ask me questions about you. She even made threats about what her family could do to my family if I didn’t tell her what she needed to know. She was threatening me,” she revealed.
Taken aback by her revelation, I looked down at my plate, as my appetite seemed to disappear immediately. What could her family do?
“Victoria, she is probably all bark and no bite,” I said in an attempt to assure her.
“Simone, you have to understand that the world that you see me living in is not all cut, clean, and dry. It’s not as black and white as it appears. My father has been more than an accountant for the Balducci’s and the Capparelli’s for over 20 years. This kind of life and wealth comes with a high price,” she admitted slowly.
“So, what are you saying? Is there some illegal shady shit, like tax evasion? What could she possibly do?” I asked.
“Look, Simone, you are my best friend, and I will do anything to protect you. I know that this is hard for you to believe, but trust me that I have your best interest at heart when I say: stay away from Andriano. I just don’t want this situation to
