obvious the man was under a great deal of stress. “I’ve screwed up big time.”
Aaron took a seat on one of the sofas. He agreed. “I just walked in on Matthews and Boone talking about the fact that you’d gone missing again this evening. Can I ask?”
Rick blew out a weary breath. “I didn’t leave the White House.”
Aaron could tell there was more. “But?”
Rick glanced towards the door. “I snuck away with Cameron for some alone time with him and refused to answer my phone when Matthews was trying to track me down.”
“Okay, so if anyone asks, we tell them the truth. You were inside the White House in an important private meeting.”
“What if they ask why we didn’t have our meeting in the office?”

God this would all be so much easier if Rick could just come out of the damn closet.
“You’ll have to get with Cameron and think of something.”
There was a knock on the door and Cameron stepped inside. The handsome older gentleman started to rush to Rick’s side, but Aaron once again cleared his throat.
“Don’t forget there are Secret Service men outside those windows,” Aaron reminded the two men.
Cameron stopped on a dime and glanced towards the windows. “Right.” He turned and sat on the twin sofa across from Aaron. “I just got off the phone with Wetherby.”
Aaron perked up. Benjamin Wetherby, the Director of the Secret Service, seemed like a nice enough guy, but Aaron knew the man took his job very seriously. “Any news on the body?”
“Not who he is, but Ben told me the young man had been drained of blood like the other two victims.”
“What? I didn’t know anything about the bodies being drained of blood. When was that announced?” Aaron swallowed the bile in his throat. “How do you even do something like that?”
Cameron glanced from Aaron to Rick. “You didn’t tell him?”
Rick shook his head. “It’s not public knowledge.” Rick glanced down at his hands.
“Besides, the details are pretty gruesome.”
“How so?” Aaron asked.
“It’s obvious the victims had sex while dying, or shortly before. On each of them, a small cut was made to their jugular vein, but the area around the wound also showed signs of…chewing. The police don’t know where the men were killed but no blood was found around the scene where the bodies were dumped. The neck wounds were thoroughly cleaned with a solvent that eliminated any trace of the murderer’s saliva.”
“You should’ve told me. It’s information I could’ve given…” Aaron stopped himself, remembering Rick knew nothing about Gray’s involvement.
Aaron shook his head. “Do you think the murderer sent the photographs to the media?”
“I don’t know. But the murder tonight is surely going to bring a load of shit on this office, especially after those photos were leaked,” Cameron pointed out.

“You’re right,” Rick sighed. Rick pushed himself away from his desk and walked over to join Aaron on the opposite end of the sofa. “Dropping a body in my front yard is damned ballsy. We’ve got to figure out who the hell is doing this before the American public starts pointing fingers in my direction.”
“See if you can get a name or picture on the most recent victim. I think the biggest lead we have is finding out who the men are and how they’re connected.” Aaron still wasn’t sure what was going on, but Rick was right. Sooner or later, the authorities would start asking questions.

Chapter Four
Gray’s cell phone rang as he walked into his office. After pulling it out of his pocket, he checked the ID. Aaron’s name popped up and he answered.
“Tell me what you’ve got.”
“Well, hello to you too.” Aaron snipped at him.
He sighed. “Sorry, honey. I’m just a little on edge with this whole thing. Especially since the victims bear a
