asked.
âItâs my old tin body; itâs all rusty.â
Suddenly, Miss Prudence Pugwortâs nuts and bolts started popping out in all directions. âWhoops! Iâm in big trouble now.â
âI think you need my help.â Edwina waved her Magic Ring and quickly put all Miss Prudence Pugwortâs nuts and bolts back together again.
Two weeks went by very quickly. Edwina kept her word and wrote a letter to Gabriella and Thirty-four every night and posted it with the Witchery Mail Service every morning before class.
âI wish we had longer than a week left,â Edwina said to Harriet as they were sitting in class making up another potion with Professor Cornelius.
âLook,â Zack said, âwe have a witches email from the Witches Council on our Cozmos: âWitches alert! The Sand Dragons have attacked the Valley of the Kings and stolen the Bloodstones of Courage and Strength .
âThe Valley of the Kings is not far from here,â Zack said. âThat means the Sand Dragons will be heading towards Frogsley and now have the courage and strength to destroy the Ancient City of Temples.â
Achoo!
âWhat was that?â Edwina said.
âWhat was what?â Zack said. âDonât tell me you can hear the Sand Dragons coming,â laughed Zack.
âI tell you, I did hear something. It sounded like someone sneezing.â
Edwina turned around and found herself looking into a pair of green eyes. âShoosh, donât speak. Nobody else can see me. Just listen carefully to what I am about to tell you. I am the Guardian of the Forbidden Temple from which the Bloodstones of Courage and Strength were stolen by the Sand Dragons. The Sand Dragons now have the power to blow sand through their nostrils, creating a whirlwind of sand which is now heading towards your School of Magic. The Sand Dragons must be stopped before they destroy the Ancient City of Temples. I must leave now, but I will return.â
âHeâs gone,â said Edwina.
âWho has gone?â Zack said, looking puzzled.
âThe Guardian of the Bloodstones.â
âWe have no idea what you are talking about, Edwina.â
âThe Guardian of the Bloodstones said no one else could see him except me.â
âWell, thatâs the truth,â said Zack, looking even more puzzled than before. âThe Guardian told me that we have to stop the Sand Dragons.â
âCan I ask you a question?â Zack said.
âYes,â answered Edwina.
âHow do you plan to stop the Sand Dragons if they are already heading towards Frogsley and the Ancient City of Temples?â
âI donât know, but we have to try.â
E dwina, Zack and Harriet went back to their rooms, anxious to hear from the Guardian of the Bloodstones.
âEdwina, you must speak with the Guardian of the Bloodstones, for we are running out of time,â Zack said. âWe need to know all about the Sand Dragons.â
âI donât know how to contact him,â said Edwina.
âWell, you could start with using your telepathic powers,â said Zack in a sarcastic tone.
Edwina closed her eyes and let her telepathic powers take over. âGuardian of the Bloodstones, where are you?â
âI am standing right beside you, Edwina. Iâve been watching over you ever since we spoke earlier.â
âPlease, Guardian of the Bloodstones, can my friends Zack and Harriet see you too?â
âAs you wish.â
âOh my,â Harriet said as she tried to stop herself from shaking, âyou are the biggest black dog I have ever seen and you have giant wings that look like bat wings, and those paws are huge.â
Harriet slowly moved closer to Zack, hoping that the overgrown, dog-like creature would go away.
âDonât be frightened. I am only here to ask for Edwinaâs help, but first let me introduce myself. I am the Guardian of the Bloodstones and my name
