she never gave me a name is nowhere in sight.  “I think I'm heading out too guys. Gonna go see my dad for a bit tomorrow and that's a bitch of a ride. See you Sunday, I'll be wearing number twelve.” Of course we laugh at that, we all wear our Brady jerseys to every game.
As I head for the door I spot a hostess, pull out my wallet and hand her a fifty. “Can you give this to the red head that was wearing the poison ivy outfit, I didn't get a chance to give her a tip before she took off.”
“No problem, you must mean Desire. She just left a little while ago. Have a good night sir, see you next time.”
If there's gonna be a next time.......

The next afternoon I was heading up to Maine to spend some time with my parents. My dad came home from the hospital this morning. Everything looked normal, so they felt no need to keep him any longer. I lost my favorite rock station shortly after crossing the border into New Hampshire so I plugged in my Ipod and got lost in some Slip Knot, Korn, and Five Finger Death Punch. My favorite music to get lost in when I'm pissed off.
My mom caught me up to speed with everything the doctors said while my dad tried to listen in but kept nodding off. “Your dad's been really tired today.” She tells me when he finally gives in and falls asleep in his recliner.
“He gave us quite a scare didn't he? I was so scared I wasn't gonna make it here in time to see him.”
“Your dad's a strong man, I don't think he's ready to leave us yet.”
“I know he's strong, but I don't think most people are ever really ready to leave. If I ever find the right woman I want you both there to give you grandbabies and share in all of our memories. Mom? How do you know if you've found the one?”
“Where is this coming from? Not that I wouldn't be thrilled. You just seemed so set to never let yourself go there after Heather.”
“I think what I maybe starting to feel for this woman is so much more than I ever thought I had with Heather. The only problem is, I don't even know her. Not really, we've spoken on the phone maybe twice, exchanged a few texts and met in person once. And there're other complications.”
“You know what I say, if something is meant to be it will work itself out,” She says smiling. “So tell me all about her and these complications you think you have.”
“Remember my friend John from college?” She just nods and motions for me to continue.
“She's his fiancé's best friend and he asked me to hire her as a favor so she could move here from Tennessee with them. I agreed right away but wanted to go through the motions. I had her send a resume, and once I saw her name, I had to see her. Her name is very unique, I had to put a face to it. Once I looked at her picture it's like something clicked and if that wasn't bad enough, once I heard her voice I was done for. I rearranged some of my staff to make her my assistant before even meeting her. I don't regret doing it, I just regret my iron clad rule of not mixing business with pleasure.” She sits  and listens patiently to my speech, absorbing every last word. I know her well, if she has something to say she will. But she'll let me get everything out first. “Mom, when I saw her I knew I was a goner. I just don't know what to do, I can't stop thinking about her. All day and night she's in my head.
Sensing I'm done she takes a deep breath. “Braydon I hope we raised you well enough to know that nothing will get in the way of true love.” I started to speak and she shut me down with her palm in my face.
Love? I didn't say anything about love. Maybe I was thinking about lust but not love. Shit! I just don't know anymore. What the fuck is wrong with me?
“Now I know it's not love yet, that takes time. But are you willing to lose her if you don't take a chance on this? Rules are rules, but they're your own. Meant to be broken
