I could see the humor in her hazel eyes. Shit, did I want to get her alone.
We all stood up, gathering our stuff and agreed to meet in the lobby of the building in about fifteen minutes. I followed behind her as she walked down the hall from the conference room. I thought about pulling her into the janitor’s closet again, but there were too many people around. She was walking slightly in front of me, her long dark hair swaying down her back.
She arrived at her office and I slipped inside after her, looking around to make sure no one noticed as I closed the door.
“Finally, we’re alone,” I said softly as my arms encircled her waist and I pulled her against me. I was thankful her office didn’t have windows.
She laughed and wrapped her arms around my waist. “That was the longest meeting ever,” she said with a groan. “I didn’t think it would end. And now we have to go to dinner,” she said with a pout as she reached up to play with my tie.
“I know,” I said as I planted tiny kisses along her neck. “It sucks.”
She sighed and pushed away from me. “Marcus, stop. We can’t. We have just a few minutes. While the janitor’s closet was fun, this time I’d like us to go a little slower and enjoy ourselves.”
I reached out and gathered her to me again. “I agree, baby,” I whispered against her lips. “But that doesn’t mean we can’t kiss for awhile. When was the last time you made out like when you were a teenager?” I asked her as I traced her face with my fingertips.
She smiled and reached up to touch my hand. “Probably since I was a teenager,” she answered.
“Right,” I said. “And that’s a shame.” I pushed her up against the edge of her desk before starting to kiss her.
We made out for a few minutes in her office. As our kisses grew more intense, I was suddenly regretting I’d agreed to wait until after dinner to have sex. I was going to have a horrible case of blue balls.
“I have to fix my make up and hair,” she said finally, pulling away from me.
I groaned and ran my fingers through my hair. “I don’t wanna share you tonight,” I said.
She laughed and shook her head. “What’s up with you and this ‘no sharing’? You aren’t sharing me. I’m not sleeping with anyone else here.”
“I know,” I replied, smoothing out my tie. “But I want to keep you naked and locked up in my hotel room.”
She grabbed a mirror from her desk drawer, checking her reflection in it. “As wonderful as that sounds, we gotta go,” she said, putting her mirror away.
“I know,” I said with a sigh, pushing myself off of her desk.
She smiled at me and I felt my heart leap in my chest. Was I falling for this girl? Impossible . I didn’t do things like that, but I had a feeling it was too late.
    “Ready?” she asked.
I nodded. “I guess so,” I said reluctantly.
Thankfully, no one else met us in the hallway as we left her office and walked down to the lobby. We were the first ones there, but the rest of our group joined us shortly and we headed to a local steak place for dinner.
I tried to maneuver it so I sat next to her at dinner, but I couldn’t do so without looking like a possessive boyfriend. Instead I had to watch her from the end of the table. I was barely able to eat, too busy observing my boss flirt with her. By the end of dinner I was fuming, jealousy running through me.
It must be the alcohol . I really hadn’t had that much to drink. The only valid excuse was that I really had fallen for her, but I didn’t fall for women. Lauren wasn’t just any woman . I’d known for years she was smart and funny, but in the past twenty-four hours I’d also learned just how sexy she was. She was everything I wanted in a woman, but she lived in Chicago and I was in Denver. Even if I wanted to date her, it was impossible given our locations, wasn’t it? We were just two friends having a good time together.
Dinner ended after what seemed like forever and I was
