Mason
When I left the club I was mad as fuck. Why did Cassie get drunk knowing damn well she wouldn't be able to drive home? I should have called a cab for her since she claimed her ride left her. Now I was on the side of the road trying to change a fuckin flat tire in the dark. The street lights on the street weren't helping, and I had no flash light. Fuck!
With nothing else to do, I sit on the hood of my car with nothing but my thoughts. Looking in the distance I see a set of headlights heading in my direction. I hop off my car and start yelling and waving my hands to flag the car down for help. They pass me but then the car slows down and does a U-turn in the road heading back in my direction. As the car comes into view I realize that I recognize the car. Caleb.
His car stops a couple of feet behind mine. The headlights dim, and the driver side door opens.
“Mason are you alright?”
“Nyla?” I whisper to myself.
She shuts her door and runs in my direction.
“What happened?” She asks me, while looking me over to see if I was hurt.
“I'm fine. It's just a flat. It's so fuckin' dark out here that I can't see so I can't change it.” I respond with irritation in my voice.
“I'll help you change it.”
“What?” I question.
“You heard me.”
She turns around and walks back to Caleb's car and cuts the headlights on.
“Is that enough light?” She yells from the open door.
I look down and can finally see my tire.
“Yeah.” I yell back.
I squat down and grab the lug wrench I had laying on the road beside my tire, and I begin loosening the screws.
Nyla kneels down beside me and watches me.
“How long have you been out here?” She asks me.
“Maybe an hour.” I respond in frustration.
I continue to turn the wrench but the screw wouldn't budge.
“Shit!” I yell throwing the wrench down. “The fuckin' lug nut is on too tight.”
I come to a standing position and immediately notice the silence between us.
I turn around and see Nyla standing there with a look of concern on her face.
“I'm sorry. I didn't mean to yell. I've been having a really rough week.”
“I understand. I guess we'll have to leave your car here and call a tow truck in the morning.” She responds giving me a small smile. “Come on I'll take us home.”
She turns around and walks back to Caleb's car. I jog up behind her, and I stop her before she can get into the car.
“Let me drive.”
She turns around and looks up at me.
“Do you have somewhere to be?” I ask her.
“No.” She responds shaking her head.
“Come on. I have something I want to show you. I promise I won't keep you out too late.”
Her eyes linger over my face for several seconds before she responds.
“Okay.”
She walks around the car to the passenger side and gets in.
I jog back to my car and make sure all my doors are locked and that I have all my belongings.
I get in Caleb's car and I rev the engine up.
“I've always loved his car.” I say getting a smile out of Nyla. “Are you ready?”
“Yeah I'm ready.” She laughs out.
I pull out onto the road and make a sharp U-turn, heading in the opposite direction to a place I've never shared with anyone before. Until now.

Nyla
I'm sitting in the passenger seat, looking out the window at our surroundings while listening to the roar of the V8 engine, as we cruise the vacant streets. After several minutes of going over bridges, and traveling down winding roads, Mason cuts on the high beams and pulls onto a dark dirt road, slowing his speed so he could maneuver around branches, holes, and the bumpy surface.
“I hope I'm not scaring you.” He breaks his silence.
“No. But it would be nice if you could tell me where we're going.” I say looking around the dark space.
“You're safe. I come
