lunch, in his apartment, the next day and then he was gone.

Chapter 4

I set about getting the dinner going and gasped when I looked in one of the grocery bags.  Inside was the long, black box from the restaurant.  I opened it to find a bottle of the same wine that we’d had with our lunch – the wine that I had said I loved so much.  He could be so thoughtful when he put his mind to it.  I fished my cell out of my purse and sent him and thank you text.

He replied immediately.  ‘It is nothing compared to what you have given me today … and yesterday!  Thank you x

That reminded me that I’d left my bouquet at the office.  Damn! Well, at least my office would be fragrant when I walked through the door in the morning.  I busied myself with cooking Angel’s favorite: chicken in a tarragon and cream sauce served with watercress salad, whilst singing along to my iPod.

Just before it was ready, Angel came crashing through the door.  “Hey, you dirty stop out!” she called.

“That’s no way to greet your best friend who is getting over a head injury but is still cooking your favorite meal!” I replied in mock indignation.

She threw her arms around me and hugged me tightly.  “Your head is okay, isn’t it?”

I smiled and nodded.  “Of course it is.  Where there’s no sense, there’s no feeling or so they say!”

Angel laughed and then turned her attention to the chicken simmering in the sauce.  “Oooh, you really are cooking my favorite!”

    “I know.  I’m such a great friend – what can I say?”

She stuck her tongue out at me and announced that she was going to freshen up and then set the table.  I told her not the bother, that I’d rather just chill on the sofa. She shrugged and asked me to open a bottle of wine.

I shook my head good naturedly.  It seems I was being bossed around by everybody today.  Just then, Muse’s Supermassive Black Hole began playing on my iPod.  Out of nowhere, my sex clenched and delicious warmth spread through my lower belly.  Oooh!   Memories of bending over, holding onto the footboard of Lucas’ bed whilst he slammed into me overloaded my senses.  I could almost feel Lucas inside me.  I pressed my thighs together and squirmed.  I had to fight the urge to touch myself.  What the hell is going on?  How can a song and a memory have such an effect on my body?

I was gripping the counter top and taking deep breaths when Angel came back through the door, demanding to know what had happened the day before.  She stopped abruptly when she saw me.

“What’s the matter Issy?  Are you okay?  Your face is all flushed and you’re breathing is weird.”  Her face was the image of concern.

I shook my head and smiled weakly.  Mercifully the track finished then and I was able to get myself together.

“Oh sorry, I forgot the wine,” I gushed and busied myself with taking the bottle from the black box.  I poured us both a glass and handed one to Angel.  She was looking at me oddly but I decided to ignore it.

“Oh my god, this wine is delicious,” she cried when she’d tasted it.

“I know!  I had it at lunch today.”

“Speaking of which, you’d better start bringing me up to date with everything that’s happened since I last saw you on Sunday evening.”

“Let’s talk and eat, I’m starving,” I suggested as I dished up our food.  “Come on, let’s take it into the living room.”

I explained everything that had happened over the previous thirty six hours, leaving out only the details about Lucas being a former Dom and my associated interest/enjoyment.  Angel was transfixed, barely eating her food.  She was getting through the wine though, I noticed.

“I don’t bloody well believe it,” she announced when I’d brought her up to date.

“What don’t you believe?” I asked as I put my empty plate on the coffee table and picked
