pussy grew wet. She squeezed her eyes shut as she tried to rein in the lust galloping through her body. She licked her lips, contemplating the odd taste of something a bit like coconut but with a wilder, exotic flavor. “What did you do to me?”
Jaxxon brushed her hair back away from her face and laid his forehead against hers. “I’m sorry, but I had to know if you were my mate. It was wrong of me to take advantage of you, especially since you’ve been so generous.” He rolled over and stared up at the ceiling, placing one arm above his head on the pillow. “Adult Azutuan males have a special chemical in our saliva that is released along the female’s tongue we kiss. It shows us if a female is truly a mate or not.”
“How does it show you?” Venus had trouble believing him. She frowned, sat up, and stared down at him.
His gaze held hers. “By your body’s reactions. If you’re not my mate, the kiss won’t do anything, but if you are….” He glanced at her exposed breasts, and her nipples hardened further.
Venus didn’t understand what was going on, but her nipples ached to be touched. Every nerve in her breasts tingled. She flopped down on the bed and wrapped her arms around her chest. “I take it I passed the test.”
Jaxxon leaned over her and smiled. “Yes, you are my mate.” A scowl crossed his face, and he glanced at the floor.
“What’s wrong?” She leaned over and grabbed for her weapon under the bed. “Is someone down there with your brother?”
He turned his attention back to her and laughed, gently pushing the M-16 away from him. “No, little warrior. I was just worried about him.”
“Is he sick? God, tell me he didn’t drink the water here.” Venus tried to get out of bed, but Jaxxon wrapped his arms around her and pulled her next to him as he lay down again.
“No, we know better than to do that. Volund is having a very hard time with the death of his mate. He loved her, worshiped her, and they were never apart for long. I used to tease him all the time about it. They were expecting their first child when things started to go bad on our planet. We were out hunting with Ino and Ka, because food was scarce, when a group of raiders attacked our town. When we returned, our whole family had been slaughtered. Our parents, sisters, and Volund’s wife and unborn child. It’s been years since it happened, but he’s still lost without her.” Eyes misty, he met Venus’s gaze and then kissed her lips softly.
Venus trembled in his arms, and a single tear slipped down her cheek. For the first time in years, she had someone she could relate to and empathize with.
Jaxxon and Volund had lost just as much as she had, if not more. “I know what it is to lose your family. It can destroy a person. At least you had each other for support and comfort.” Memories of her parents surfaced, but she shoved them away.
“I’m sorry, Venus. I didn’t mean to bring up painful memories for you. I think that’s why the planet leaders believe this will work. In a way, we’ve all lost someone, so maybe through this knowledge and pain we can all learn from one another. However, I’m worried about Volund. He won’t admit it, but I believe you might be what he needs to put the past to rest.”
He reached over, taking her weapon, and laid it back on the floor. Jaxxon smiled before he leaned down and kissed her neck. “Volund won’t approach you, but I have a feeling you might be his mate also. He protests too much,” he whispered as he drew a circle around her nipple with a fingertip. “Just think…two sets of hands roaming your body, two mouths kissing your breasts, and two sapin filling you.” Jaxxon scraped his teeth over her nipple.
“What’s a sapin?” asked Venus, though she suspected she could guess.
She wanted to protest the idea of being shared by two men, but the thought was only a brief one as fire swept through her body. She couldn’t get enough of Jaxxon or the sensations
