wandered to how comfortable the mattress would be.
“Let me know if you need anything,” he said.
    That was it?
I thought maybe he might sleep with me, or at least, I don’t know, stay up talking for longer. He really seemed to want me to rest.
“OK,” I said, not sure what I should be doing.
“Have a good night. Rest well. You must’ve had a long day.”
Yes, it was a long day, so long, that I didn’t feel like sleeping yet. Being in this strange new environment, I didn’t think I would ever fall asleep.
“Thanks,” I said, then remembered, “Sir.”
He leaned down, and I thought he was going to kiss me for a moment, but he stopped himself.
“Have a good night,” he said, and then he went to the door. “If you need anything, remember you can call me if it’s important.”
“Sure,” I said. I would let him get to work, or whatever he was doing. He seemed preoccupied. I don’t know why he wouldn’t kiss me either. Did he only want me for my milk, or did he actually want more? I would be disappointed if it was just about the milk, but I should’ve expected that. After all, now I was just a cow.
I went over to the bed and flopped onto it.
I was right about the mattress. It was heavenly. But I still couldn’t sleep. I decided to try my best. I couldn’t disappoint my new Master.
Waiting for a couple hours, not falling asleep, I knew I would end up exploring, but didn't want to give in. I wasn’t exactly sure what time it was, because there wasn’t a clock in the room. Restless and hungry, I tossed and turned, and then decided to get out of bed.
My growing breasts made me constantly hungry. I needed to eat to constantly feed them. At least, I hoped that was where all the weight was going. In one of my starving moods, I headed outside, searching for Master Riggs to ask him if he had any sort of snack. I was hoping for something with a lot of carbs to cure my sugar cravings and to knock me out for the night.

That grand staircase reminded me of an old picture. My parents went on a cruise and got their picture taken in front of its enormous staircase. They spent a lot on that cruise, saved for years, and couldn't afford to bring an extra person. I didn't feel bad about it. I knew they deserved a break. The staircase seemed to last forever, and with my cramped calves from my show, I took longer to get down, but at least it felt like I was invited to that cruise I always wanted to go on. At the end, I looked about to see if Master Riggs was anywhere, but the lights were dim, the other parts of the house shrouded in darkness. There was a lot of other rooms beyond my sight.
At least I knew where the kitchen was. If I made a wrong turn, I might get stuck in the maze of hallways. Sneaking into the kitchen, I flicked on the lights.
Would my Master be upset if he knew I was there? I didn't want to sneak around, but I was hungry, and I needed to take a small walk before bed. What I really wanted to do was to have a conversation with Master Riggs, one in which he didn't vanish before I could start asking the tough questions.
It was probably best for me to fall asleep, instead I rummaged through the cabinets, searching for something sweet. Too bad, he seemed to be a health nut. I couldn't find anything quick and fast to eat. He sure had a lot of spices as well. I got to the refrigerator and opened it wide, surprised at all of the meat inside. Was he a secret shape shifting werewolf perhaps? Oh please no, I really didn't need to go there, as if things weren't strange enough being a dairy cow on a human milking farm.
"You could've come and seen me."
I jumped back with a shriek. "Oh geez, you scared me."
"Geez is right. What are you looking for? Maybe I can help."
Ashamed, I hung my head. "Sorry, Master, I know I should be sleeping, but my mind is racing and I'm starving."
"It's all right," he said, taking me by the waist and pulling me closer. I looked up into his dark, enchanting eyes, his
