She was thankful Max didn’t asked what was wrong because she wasn’t ready to tell him about her past. She was ashamed that she was once weak, and she let someone like him get to her.
She took a deep calming breath and walked to the door. When she opened it Max was standing there observing her as if he knew what haunted her. She tried to smile at him, and he took the two remaining steps between them to wrap her in his warm embrace. She laid her head on his chest and listen ed to his strong heartbeat.
“You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do. I will be here for you no matter what you chose.”
She knew that, and it made her want to cry. She hadn’t told him everything about her past all he knew was she had her heart broken and that was just a scratch on the surface of her problems. She shook her head and looked up at him. “No, I want to try.” Her mind took her back to her last kiss, and she felt her cheeks heat up. Max arched a dark eyebrow at her causing her to blush more. “We kissed and it was…nice.”
“I didn’t do my job if it was just nice .”
Her heart raced when she heard Jax’s voice from behind them. Their kiss was more than nice, but she didn’t know what to think about what happened between them. She wondered if they already knew what she was , or if she and Jax would have stopped when they had, because she hadn’t wanted to. She’d wanted to slowly sink down on his hard cock until he was buried in her.
Max wrapped an arm around her shoulder, and she smiled at the other man. “Is enjoyable a better word?”
He laughed and nodded. “I’ll take it, now let’s eat.”
They did, but she knew that Max was keeping something from her and she questioned if what was bugging him was that she and Jax had kissed. He looked up at her and she just stared at him, he sighed.
“I know what you are,” he said and she gasped.
She didn’t think she would know for at least another day.
“Well, why don’t you tell us , brother?”
She agreed with Jax she wanted to know , but the look on Max’s face scared her.
“Megan, no matter what , nothing will change between us. You are a succubus, either your father isn’t who you think or you’re adopted.”
Her mind raced and she knew what a succubus was, it was the female version of an incubus.
“Succ-u-bus,” Jax said it slowly as if it was agonizing to say. She looked at him and his eyes were darker than she recalled.
“Jax it doesn’t change anything, she is still who we should be with. We can’t drain her and she can’t drain us.”
She couldn’t sit there and listen to anything else. She needed to be alone and think about things. She quickly stood up and the men did the same. “I need to go,” she said, but Max looked as if he was going to argue with her and she shook her head. “Please, I need to think about things and I need to call my mother.”
Max and Jax shared a look and they both nodded at the same time. “Fine , but we are walking you down to your car.”
She didn’t disagree because she would be alone soon. Once in the elevator she didn’t look at either of them. She just stared down at her feet, repeating what she was succubus . She knew she would be something, but she never thought about a succubus.
The doors opened and she stepped out with her twins behind her. Something felt different , like she was being watched, she stopped moving and looked around. She only saw parked cars, and she when she found hers she gasped. Her car was smashed up, all the windows were broken and large dents were coving her car.
“Holy shit, Megan , stay here with Jax,” Max said and walked past her to her ruined car.
Jax stepped up to stand behind her, he placed a hand on her shoulder. “I take it that is your car.”
She nodded, but glanced over her shoulder when she heard a car start up. An all-black SUV with dark tinted windows was heading for her and Jax. He must have seen it because he pulled her into his arms
