piece.
    â€œYeah,” I said, taking a stick.
â€œNow that he’s gone through detox he sounds like the Wesley that swept me off of my feet, and it’s sort of nice.”
â€œEven after the way he played you with Lori? I’m just shocked to hear that you’re still willing to give him the time of day,” I said, trying to understand why she’d want to go back to him.
â€œLori is still around. I saw her at the grocery store the other night. She flipped up her middle finger at me and I was like, whatever, chick!” Keysha laughed.
â€œWell, isn’t she going to be a problem if you and Wesley hook up again?” I asked.
â€œI’m not worried about Lori at all. She knows that if sheeven dreams about beating me up she’d better wake up, call me and apologize,” Keysha said, laughing.
â€œOkay, but you know Lori is a drama queen,” I reminded her.
â€œA drama queen who has burned two guys. She’s so nasty!” Keysha said with revulsion.
â€œOh, yeah, I forgot that she burned Wesley and Antonio and then Antonio turned around and slept with Priscilla and burned her. What a freaking mess.”
â€œThat’s Lori for you. One messy girl.”
â€œWhat about Antonio and Priscilla? Have you heard anything more? Is he going to step up and be a real father?” I asked as I glanced at a pair of shoes in a display window. “Wait a minute. I want to look at these shoes.” Keysha stopped and admired the shoes with me.
â€œI saw Priscilla at the pool the other day. She’s eating every thing like a cow out on a prairie. She seems to think that her nose has gotten wider and her feet are growing. I’d never heard of such a thing. Anyway, she sat and talked to me for a long time. She said that she’s going to have to attend an alternative school for girls in her situation. You know, being a teen mother and all. Apparently, there is some high school that will babysit for her while she takes her classes. But she said she has learned that the school is filled with girls who like to gang bang. So she’s really nervous about how she’s going to fit in, since she hasn’t done anything remotely close to breaking the law.”
â€œMan, that is so jacked up. I would just die if I had to go through something like that,” I admitted.
â€œYou and I both,” Keysha said, readjusting her purse straponto her shoulder. “Priscilla claims that Antonio’s parents are very upset about the pregnancy and said that he shouldn’t do anything until the baby is born and blood test results confirm that the child actually belongs to him.”
â€œAre you serious? I thought Antonio already owned up to being the father?” I asked.
â€œHe has, but apparently that wasn’t good enough for his folks. Priscilla said that his parents are trying to say that she was a promiscuous girl who probably slept with a bunch of guys,” Keysha explained.
â€œWhy would his parents think that?” I wondered.
â€œPriscilla would like to know that as well, but she said that her main focus right now was on having a healthy baby and she didn’t have time to deal with a lot of crap.”
â€œShe must be miserable,” I said, thinking of how she must be feeling.
â€œThat’s putting it mildly, although she is hopeful that once the baby arrives all of the doubt will go away and the child will bring everyone together.”
â€œTrue, that could happen—you just never know,” I said, hoping for the best.
â€œWhat about Jerry? Have you forgiven him?” I asked.
â€œOh, I can’t stand that bastard.” Keysha looked over at me and I could see the flames of disgust still in her eyes. Jerry was Keysha’s most recent ex-boyfriend who didn’t care about anything or anyone but himself.
â€œHow is your leg holding up?” Keysha asked as we stepped away from the window and continued
