Pretty Fly for a White Guy: The Complete Series Collection
friends.

“Hi Ken,” they both said in unison.

Really? They both sound like star struck teenagers. I know that Ken was pretty fly for a white guy but he was not Brad Pitt! There was no way that I could expect proper back up from both of my friends when they were obviously underneath his spell, unlike me. Even Patrice had a little twinkle in her eye. What a duo of traitors. I gave the both of them the evil side eye before I spoke.

“Hello Kenneth,” I said through clenched teeth.

“Aww, you don’t look happy to see me, you’re breaking my heart,” he said as he placed his hand over his heart faking a heart attack.

“Well can you blame me? I never know what to expect when it comes to you. You’re full of surprises.”

“Ladies, would you mind excusing me and Nicole for a minute?” He asked the both of them with his million dollar smile.

“Of course,” Jasmine said, “We have to go mix and mingle anyway.”

“We definitely do. I have to go tell a group of women that they are in dire need of my services,” Patrice added in as they walked away.

I cut my eyes at Patrice and she mouthed, “I’m sorry girl,” to me.

She wasn’t as sorry as she was going to be. He played the both of them like a fiddle and it irritated me. Kenneth always seemed to have people wrapped around his finger; it’s a part of his charm. There is just something about him that makes you want to ensure he’s satisfied. Good thing he does not have that effect on me, not anymore anyway.

“Now that you have gotten rid of my friends, what do you want?”

“I just wanted to speak to you without them being around. What are you doing tomorrow night? I want to see you.”

“I have a date with Joshua tomorrow; he’s taking me to play pool if you must know. I already told you that I’m not interested and that I’m moving forward with Josh. We don’t exist any more and it’s time that you realized that.”

He gave me a look that I couldn’t exactly pinpoint but it seemed like I’d hurt him. He quickly recovered and I was disappointed that his true feelings were hidden again underneath his cool resolve. He was always sexier to me when he was vulnerable. Other people saw the alpha male all the time but I got the opportunity to see what was underneath all of that. I’m sure that’s why he pushed me away all the time.

Whenever we would get too close for his personal comfort, he would do something that would upset me. He would flirt with other women, probably sleep with them, or tell me that he needed space. One thing that made me feel special was that he always came back to me and made me feel like his number one. I would push aside my hurt and happily embrace him but I couldn’t bring myself to do it this time. I could no longer be his sanctuary. It doesn’t matter why he hurt me, it only matters that he did.

“Well, I had to try again,” he said as I started to walk away. “Oh, and it would be nice if you answered my text messages when I send them. I’ve never taken you to be a rude woman.”
I turned around, “The only one being rude is YOU. Enjoy your night.”

The next afternoon, I went to Café Sunflower in Buckhead. It’s one of my favorite places to go for lunch. I was there early and one of my clients would be there in a half hour. I decided to treat myself to desert first. Their vegan chocolate raspberry mousse cake was heavenly and my mouth began to water when the waitress walked away to grab me a piece. This cake is worth putting weight on for, believe me!

I sat facing the door so that I could see my client as she walked in. The waitress brought me my slice of cake and I couldn’t wait to delve in. Just as I brought the first bite to my lips Amelia walked through the door.  I didn’t feel like being bothered with her today and she’s not the type of woman that will just do the polite thing and ignore you.  Once she spotted
