snatched the cigarette out of her hand. I almost laughed.
“Meech, do you think that she will kill him?”
“From what I heard on the recording, no. She got it bad for him ya’ll.”
“Well, we need to find his car.”
“Ju, you are so right, but how?”
“I don’t know Outlaw … WAIT!”
I turned to look at Boo and asked, “Do you think Ashley will help us?”
Boo shook her head.
“I don’t know. I mean we did save her life, and played a big part in Malone’s ass going to jail for life. You know she’s a sergeant now?”
“Boo, I think we should call her. We need to have her put a BOL out for his car.”
It was a long shot, but I wondered if JoJo knew how to get in touch with her sister. I was desperate.
“E, can you see if JoJo knows where to find Mia?”
The minute I said that, Re’s crazy ass rolled her eyes at me and shook her head. I didn’t give two fucks. Honestly, she was starting to get on my damn nerves with her bullshit.
“What, Re? What the fuck is your problem?”
“Why trust her word? You think she’s going to really give up her sister? Hell no. I don’t trust her.”
It was my turn to roll my eyes at her ass . . . “Anyway, E?”
“She’ll help if she knows something. I’ll holler at her tonight.”
That was good enough for me. I got up and grabbed the phone off the charger.
“I’m about to call Ashley.”
(Ashley)
Now let me tell you, that was some tantalizing shit I went through. That fat-ass Malone did some fucked up shit to me. Luckily for me, my girl’s family found me and ultimately played a big role in getting him put away for life. I have been trying to pick up the pieces of my life. I got promoted to sergeant, and recently I met someone. She’s a little different from what I’m used to, but was truly sexy. I even softened up my look to fit hers.
I met her while I was in Indiana getting some gas. You see, gas is so much cheaper in Indiana. Anyway, I pulled up to the pump and got out. It was cold as hell, so I was trying to make my way in the store to pay for my gas. On the way to the counter, I grabbed a Red Bull and a pack of gum.
“Let me get 40 on pump three.”
“Let me getcha number!”
I turned around about ready to snap on whoever was all up in my eat. My words got caught in my throat. Damn, she was fine. She even had on my favorite cologne — Cool Water. She had this smooth baby face. Her dreads were on pint . . . just how I like them. To top it all off, she had a pair of light grey eyes. I was stuck.
“Damn, sexy. You gon’ tell me your name?”
I could feel my face get all red. I was embarrassed.
“My bad. I’m Ashley. Yours?”
“Carmen, but you can call me Cee.”
And just like that, we quickly sparked something special. She visits me every weekend. Her job keeps her busy all week. Fine by me, because I’m off on the weekends.
Back to the present, I was sitting at my desk trying to finish up a case I was working on when my phone rang. I was kind of shocked to see the number.
“Ms. Ja’ziya, how are you?’
“Hey Ash. I’m doing better. I’ma get straight to the point. Jaw is missing.”
“Missing? Baby, what’s going on?”
“Long story short, he was trying to clean up a mess he made. I guess the girl got the upper hand on him. Lil Man must have helped her, because I saw him driving Jaw’s car.”
“Lil Man got his car? Oh no, that can’t be good. Listen, given me his tag number. I’ll put out a BOL on his car.”
I hung up and put out that BOL . . . I hoped to God that he wasn’t dead.
Chapter 16
Carmen
“No, you need to do what the fuck I’m saying. I said get your ass over here now!”
“What is your problem?”
“I talked to your sister. How could you do her like that?”
“Her? Did she tell you that she’s been siding with the enemy?”
“I know everything. What the fuck is wrong with you? Yo ass done fell off. How you go from moving 10 bricks a week to nothing? That nigga
