the door behind him and sighs. “I have some explaining to do.”
“Damn right you do,” I reply bluntly.
“Listen… Claire… I really didn’t expect to see you in that boardroom today… I guess it was a shock for the both of us.”
“A shock? Ha! That’s an understatement. We’ve been communicating for the past year due to business and yet it turns out you’re the ‘hospitality resort worker’ I had a fling with.”
“Look, you have every right to be mad. I should have told you the truth.”
“Yeah?” I say, shaking my head. “Well, why didn’t you?”
He pauses and looks out the window to the bustling city. “Because most people are just interested in my money. Nobody sees the real me. They just see the designer suit, the expensive car, and the multi-million-dollar penthouse. When I’m at the resort, I can be me. I can walk around barefoot and be carefree. Like I said to you when we were there – when I stand and watch that sunrise, nothing else matters. All this other stuff doesn’t measure up. I tried to explain that to you.”
“Then why even spend time in the city? Why are you even here?”
“I guess… after you rejected my offer to stay, I decided to head back. It was the first time in two years that I’ve been here. And, I admit, it’s addictive. The energy, the buzz, the action – it’s all very appealing. And it distracts me from my darker thoughts, which involve losing you. The city has helped fill that void. But it’s not for me.”
“How can I believe anything that you say? How do I know you’re not just a man that seduces random girls while they are on holidays at your resort,” I state with bitterness.
“I don’t seduce random girls,” he replies, his tone becoming graver.
“Do you honestly expect me to believe I was the only one?”
He shrugs his shoulders. “You can believe what you like. But you were the only one.”
His voice is laced with honesty and I want to believe him, but I’m not sure if I should.
“I went looking for you,” I whisper, trying to fight the tears welling in my eyes.
His eyes light up.
“You did? Why?”
“No-one has ever made me feel the way that you did,” I say, composing myself. “What we had was short and fast, but it meant something to me.”
“Then come back with me.”
“What?”
“Let’s go back to the resort.”
“When?”
“Now.”
I smile through the tears. “But what about the meeting?”
“Forget about the damn meeting. How many more times do I need to tell you this before you get it? I don’t care about money, Claire,” he laughs and fills the space between us. “I have everything that I want right here.”
He encircles his arms around my waist, his dark, azure eyes burning into mine.
Oh, yes…
I couldn’t agree more.
Chapter Seventeen
My heart flutters.
The more I look at Grayson, the more I fill with desire.
We want each other.
We physically need each other.
His kiss is soft and tender – just how I remember it.
“Wait,” I say, breaking the kiss. “What if someone walks in?”
He grins and reaches back to lock the door. “Problem solved.”
When his lips find mine again, the lust returns in hungry waves.
My hands run over his body before I rip off his shirt, the buttons popping before it falls onto the floor.
I see it again.
That rock-hard, stunning, male physique of his.
Delicious.
Our kiss deepens and increases with appetite – I don’t want it to stop.
I don’t care that we’re in my office.
I don’t care that we’re at my workplace.
I don’t care about anything right now.
The only thing that matters is Grayson and his damn hot body.
My physical needs have taken over.
His hands run over my curves before they find their way up my skirt.
I’m so wet it’s pure agony.
I need him.
Now.
He pulls down my panties I kick them off to the side.
My hands go straight for his belt, unbuckling it, before dropping his
