drinking. Shane ran his hands down her arms and onto her tiny waist. “I gotta say, it’s real good to see you too, Cyn.”
Cyn smoothed her warm palms down his chest to his sides, glancing to where her hands had traveled and then back to his eyes. “It’s been a long time.”
“I’m starting to wonder why I stayed away so long.” He pulled her a little closer, knowing full well his hard-on was pressing against her stomach. Her eyes went wide and she licked her lips again. Fuuuuckkk!
She smiled, just a slight curl to her perfect lips, as if she knew the effect she was having on him. “Why did you stay away so long?”
“Lots of reasons, but that was before I knew what I was missing out on in doing so.” He focused on her lips then returned his gaze to her eyes. Yep, totally screwed. What a shit he was.
“Oh yeah? And what were you missing out on?” She slipped her hands under the edge of his shirt and pressed her fingers into the flesh of his sides.
“Girl…” He blew out a breath. “Dayyumm.” Shane resisted the urge to grab her ass and pull her tighter against him. But only barely. “I was missing out on you, Cyn.” Fuck it. Booze and desire were driving and the train just jumped the track. He slid his hands lower and cupped her full ass in his palms. “And this. I was missing out on this too.”
Cyn raised a brow and pursed her lips, as she shook her head. “I think… Did you… I mean…” She giggled, and cut herself off by clearing her throat.
Jesus she was cute. He grinned and moved his palms up to her lower back. “What’s that?”
She tilted her head to the side. “Shane Conlon, did you just make a pass at me?”
He glanced away but quickly focused his gaze back on her. “Yes, ma’am.” He nodded. “I believe I did.”
“Wow! Shock the shit outta me!” She slapped his upper arm. “Really?”
He frowned. “Why should that shock you? You’re damn sexy. And I’m not blind, Cyn.”
    “Yeah, but…”
“But nothing—actually, but everything. Your ass is sexy too.”
Her eyes went wide. “I guess I just never thought…you know—” she shrugged, “—that you ever noticed me before.”
“Hell, we were kids. Plus, seeing as though you’re my best friend’s baby sister…” It was his turn to shrug. “Meant you were kinda off-limits.”
“So now I’m not off-limits? Is that it?” A coy smile arched her lips and his fingers ached to touch them.
Instead he smoothed his palms around her sides, loving how her tiny waist flared into full hips. “Well, if I abide by the friend code, it means you’re totally off-limits.” There went the E-brake and along with it, her smile. Damn. For the life of him all Shane wanted was to put that pretty arch back on her lips. Garth Brooks’s “To Make You Feel My Love” echoed from the club’s sound system, and Shane sent up a silent prayer of thanks. “Dance with me?”
That gorgeous smile came back even brighter than before. “You dance?”
“Yes, ma’am. I sure do. Think you can keep up?” He let her go, took her hand and tugged her toward the dance floor.
“Oh, I know I can keep up just fine. It’s a slow song after all.” Cyn laughed and it carried over the loud music, rippling over his skin.
When they reached the floor, he turned to face her, raised their clasped hands and wrapped his other around her waist, and pulled her against him. “You can two-step, right?”
    “Wait, what?”
With a chuckle, he started moving, urging her backward with the sway of his body and shuffle of his feet. The song was perfect to move with her to. Shane had no idea if she’d ever danced a two-step before, but he was betting she’d catch on pretty quick. She stumbled a bit, but he held her tight and kept them in time. As he figured, within a few beats, she caught his rhythm and synced her steps with his. “Atta girl. You got it.”
She glanced down at their feet, smiling. “Wow.”
Yeah, wow was right. Shane rounded
