metal give.
âJamie and Mia think the only obstacle is convincing you.â The tone in Calebâs voice alerted him. Damn, the guy really did see too much. Aidan kept his eyes on the bowl of cereal so Caleb couldnât see his expression. âIs that right?â
âI told them they might be overestimating the problem.â Caleb paused to take another sip of coffee. âWhat man wouldnât want the free pass to have sex with his loverâs best friend?â
Was that what Caleb thought? Aidan would let Caleb continue to operate under that mistaken belief. âYou already agreed to it?â
Caleb nodded. âJamie thinks Iâll be doing her a favor.â
That just showed how smart Caleb was. Aidan wanted this guy as his ally. âWhy do you want to do it?â
Caleb appeared surprised by the question. âDespite what you think, itâs not to get into Miaâs bed.â
Aidan knew he should feel a spurt of jealousy, but all he could think of was Caleb and Mia in bed together. Her slender body would arch underneath Calebâs. She would grab his ass, her fingers digging into his tight muscles. Caleb would thrust into her, the sound of wet flesh and low growls echoing in the room. Aidan clenched his hand, bending the forgotten spoon.
âSettle down.â Caleb stared at the bent utensil in Aidanâs fist. âIâm not interested in Mia. I want Jamie.â
Aidan tossed the spoon onto the table. âYou have her.â
âFor another couple of days,â he said with a hint of bitterness. âThen sheâs heading off to who knows where, and I donât plan to be left behind.â
âOh, I get it. You think if you instantly agree to swap partners, you gain brownie points. Sheâll know that you arenât holding her back or judging her.â Aidan cast Caleb a look of admiration. âThat might work.â
Caleb nodded. âSo the sooner we do this, the better.â
âDonât hold your breath.â Aidan pushed away the cereal bowl.
âMia might say sheâs ready, but itâs going to take her a while to get used to the idea.â
âIf Jamie wants to do it before she leaves, itâll happen.â
Aidan couldnât argue with that. âWhatâs Jamieâs strategy?â
âShe wants Mia to explore her sexual boundaries.â
Aidan rubbed his hand over his chin. âSo anything goes?â
âYep.â
Aidan caught Calebâs sly smile and he went into full alert. âYou have something else in mind, donât you? Itâs not just to get on Jamieâs good side.â
Caleb held his hands up. âIâm all for swapping partners. The swap may not work out exactly as Jamie hopes. . . .â
Aidanâs eyes narrowed. If he didnât get Mia or Jamie, then that left . . . âWhoa!â He pushed his chair back as the fight-or-flight instinct pounded through his veins. âYou and me?â
Caleb laughed. âDonât flatter yourself.â
âGood,â Aidan said with relief. But Calebâs explanation niggled at his mind. Jamie had a plan, and Aidan wanted to be prepared. âDid Jamie say how she wanted it to play out?â
âShe didnât tell me anything.â Caleb took another sip of coffee. âSo how about it? Are you going to swap?â
Aidan knew now was the time to feign reluctance. It was the only way to get what he wanted without too many questions. âItâs not that I donât trust you. . . .â
Caleb gave a snort. âYeah, right.â
âBut if Mia agrees to this, Iâm not going to interfere.â
Caleb couldnât hide his surprise. âReally?â
Aidan nodded. âAs long as I get to set some ground rules.â
âGround rules?â Calebâs eyebrows shot up. âJamie doesnât do ground rules.â
Aidan was fully aware of that, but Jamie didnât need to
