the top. Isabella had written like so many of them, some core truths about her life, being good to other people including her little brother and not telling lies. What would Isabella think about her teacher’s behavior in the principal’s office? Of course, she wouldn’t comprehend the adult stuff, but she would know that it probably wasn’t the best move for Miss Roland. Now Miss Roland was going to have to keep the truth from lots of people. The truth of her deep love of Mr. Bloomgren.
    What had I done?
    Ding!
“Hi Laura, how was your day?”
I just remembered that Jonathan was kind of still in the picture.
He’s got to go. Even if this did not work out with Mr. Bloomgren, I mean Nick. I had to dump the on-again, off-again boyfriend.
I’m going to put it off for another day because today has been too much. She quietly composed a text to him.
“Long, long day. Let’s talk tomorrow. Good night xo, Laura”

Chapter Twenty-Two
I had to at least make eye contact with Nick tomorrow. I knew that the eyes would tell me whether or not what we did mattered to him on a deeper level. Would he touch me tomorrow? Would he grab my arm?
I had his cell phone number somewhere in my new teacher materials. I could have dug it out, but that would have been too painful. He needed to give me his number intentionally.
I locked up my apartment and walked to my car carrying an extra load for the parent-teacher conferences. Even without the extra weight, I could tell I was definitely saddle sore from my encounter with Nick. Every step reminded me about the passion of yesterday and my desire for this incredible man.
I pulled into the parking lot and took a breath to ready myself for this day. I entered the school and went to my classroom. Over the course of the average day, I really didn’t come into contact with the principal. Usually he waved to me and greeted my students as we walked to “specials” like music, gym, art or computer class. It was kind of astounding that we developed a startlingly deep connection with each other just through casual contact. God, I hope it isn’t just lust.
The bell rang and my students came in. I started the day as usual and it kept rolling. The class got into its usual routine and I forgot about what happened last night in the principal’s office. Every now and then I would bend down to get on a student’s level and I’d feel a twitch in my loins. Oh yes, we did have sex yesterday. And I’m totally out-of-practice.
Lunch came and after I dropped off the kids at the cafeteria, I briefly considered swinging by the office to say hello. I dismissed it immediately. He was going to have to seek me out. I am not desperate . Plus, his office was always full. Worse than not getting to talk to him, would be making eye contact with him while he was with other people and not being able to chat. I’ll wait for him.
I ate at my desk, which I didn’t do very often, but I still needed time to process everything that happened. Before I knew it, lunch was over, I returned to get my students from recess and the day continued on and on.
    Tick. Tock. DING!
The 3:00 pm dismissal bell rang and my students left after hugs and high fives. I have such a nice class.
I went back to my desk to check my email and work on paper work. Teachers walked by my door on their way out. I continued working.
There was some movement in the hallway and looked up to see that someone was in the doorway.
    Nick.
I felt the pit of my stomach ball up. He was wearing another dark suit and put his hand high up on the door frame. I knew he was six feet tall, but he looked like a giant standing there.
Nick didn’t say a word but he came up to my desk and kneeled down, putting his hands on the rim of my desk.
“Hi Laura,” he looked into my eyes and I saw his eyes sparkling as we locked on each other.
“Hi,” I smiled and bit my lip on the inside so he couldn’t see. I could feel myself trembling.
    “I just wanted to
