when he shook his head. Gently but firmly she pulled him toward her,
resting his head on her shoulder so she could comfort him. "I'm not mad,
not at all."
"But we have to be safe, for
Victoria, and I wasn't, I forgot to grab a condom," Charlie whispered into
her shoulder, angry with himself for doing something so stupid.
    "It's okay, don't worry about
it. I know we wanted to be safe but it's alright. I love that you were prepared
to do so much for me, for my daughter, but it's okay;
we got ourselves tested, we're both clean, and I've had the injection so I
can't get pregnant. The condoms were just an extra precaution, and one we don't
really need."
Charlie relaxed after a couple of
minutes, realising that what Tess said was true. They had both gotten
themselves tested, wanting to be safe for the sake of Victoria, and he knew she
had had the injection to prevent herself getting pregnant because he remembered
her telling him about the visit to the doctor's for it.
Tess was relieved when she felt
Charlie relax in her arms. Though she thought it was great that he was so
concerned about his lapse she would have preferred him not to worry as much.
Wanting to distract him, and hopefully put a smile back on his face, she rolled
away from him to the edge of the bed, where she got to her feet and turned back
to hold her hand out to him.
When he didn't take it, instead
looking up at her curiously, she reached out to take his hand, pulling him
toward her. "Come on, get up, you lazy bugger," she said smiling down
on him.
    "Why?" Charlie asked,
allowing himself to be pulled across the bed; he could have stopped her easily,
he was stronger than her, but he decided to play along since it was clear she
had something on her mind.
"I want you to come with
me," Tess told him.
    "And where are we
going?" he wanted to know. By then he was at the edge of the bed and he
swung his legs round, though he didn't stand like she wanted him to. He
couldn't imagine where it was she wanted him to go with her right then,
especially since they were both naked.
    Tess smiled again. "I'm going
for a shower; after that workout I need to clean myself up," she said,
running a hand over her stomach, which was coated a sheen of sweat. "I
thought you might like to join me." A raised eyebrow and a lopsided smile
accompanied invitation.
    Charlie couldn't help smiling back
at Tess. "Sure, sounds good," he remarked, getting to his feet so she
could lead him across to the bathroom, where she turned the shower on and began
adjusting the taps to get the water to a temperature she liked.
When the water was right they both
stepped into the cubicle, which fortunately was large enough for the pair of
them while still having space for them to move around. Being a gentleman, at
least most of the time, Charlie allowed Tess to step under the cascading water
first and she immediately ducked her head to soak her hair as she reached for
the shampoo bottle. At the same time he took up the bottle of shower gel,
remembering something she had told him during their many Skype sessions.
A fantasy of Tess' had been to
have someone wash her body while she washed her hair; that was what he had
remembered. It was a fantasy he intended to make come true right then.
    When Charlie began lathering her
body, his soap-covered hands roaming over her as he cleansed her, Tess felt a
tear of happiness form in the corner of her eye. Not only that but she felt a
shiver of delight run through her, she couldn't believe he had remembered what
she had told him. It was not the first time she had shared a shower with
someone, but it was the first time she had been washed by a lover and she felt
so deeply for the man whose hands were exploring her body even as he cleansed
her and that made the experience seem so much more magical.

at their approach, the wind swept snow into the foyer and straight up Tess'
skirt, making her glad she had worn tights. She
