you, but maybe she has
changed. You’ll never know unless you find out.”
“Jill isn’t who I want. Things ended for a reason.
It was a mutual break-up. Whether she’s changed or not is not my concern. I’m
done with her. There’s nothing there for me whatsoever.”
Cate shrugged out of his touch and walked over to
her bags. “You’re an amazing person, Torrance. It was an honor serving you. It
really was. But I should be going. I need to focus on what my master wants, and
you’ve already taught me so much. I’m sure by the time he gets back, I’ll have
learned enough to at least be able to please him a little.”
Torrance was torn. He’d never stopped anyone when it
came to personal decisions, but he couldn’t bear letting Cate leave so soon.
“Stay.”
She leaned down and picked up her bags. “Thirty days
is such a long time to live with a person, considering the kind of relationship
we have. I’m starting to realize that with each day I get to know you better.
If I stay, we both know my transition won’t go as smoothly as it should. I wish
you the best, Tor. And I really hope you find a worthy enough sub, someday.”
Cate headed for the front door and Torrance rushed
over and stood in front of it. “I like having you around. Stay. You can have
the guest bedroom. I’ll continue to train you, but your clothes will stay on.
It’ll all be verbal. There will be no more girls coming to the door. I can
promise you that.”
“It’s not just the girls, Torrance. I’m really not
that upset about it at all. I kind of figured it would happen at some point. I
mean, look at you,” she laughed. “You’re every woman’s dream. I’m actually
surprised it hasn’t happened before this.” The bags shifted in her hands. “We
both know it’s better this way. We had a great time.
Let’s end it on that note.”
Torrance clutched the handle behind him. She was
right, and he knew it was probably for the best. But dammit, he wasn’t ready to
let her leave. “I promised Doc I would train you for 30 days. Don’t make me
have to tell him that I couldn’t do the job. Word gets around in our community.
A sub is only as good as the master. If they feel I couldn’t control you…”
The way Cate’s eyes widened, he knew she believed
him. God, he was a sorry son of a bitch. Although what he said was true, he
could seriously not care less what other people thought of him. But she didn’t
need to know that.

Cate’s face filled with worry as he took her in. She
shifted under his gaze. “I wasn’t aware. I’m sorry. The last thing I want is
anyone doubting your training ability.”
Torrance felt himself sag into the door in relief.
Maybe it was best that things had worked out this way. Now he could get the
distance he knew was best for both of them. Even though his mind knew it, he
was still having a hard time convincing himself. At least she’d stayed, though.
Even if he couldn’t touch her, at least she was still under his roof.
“Here, let me show you to the guest bedroom. You can
get all set up in there, and then we’ll set some hours for your sub training.”
He led her into the back bedroom and paused as he looked around. Cate
immediately stepped around him. Her mouth opened in shock as she took in all of
his toys.
“Amazing,” she whispered. Her eyes turned to look at
him. “Will you show me how they work?” She laughed.   She quickly shook her head. “I mean, not, you
know…in person, per se. Just show me.”
“Of course. You’ll need to know.” Torrance was sure his cock couldn’t get any harder. “I’ll
move all of this in my room. It’s bigger, and you’ll have more space.”
Cate’s hand lifted a little. “Will you leave it? All
I really need is the bed.” Her gaze focused on the St. Andrew Cross, and she
walked up and ran her touch down the padded leather that rested against the X.
“I think I’d like this one,” she said, picking up the
