Gatekeeper and everyone who’s getting kickbacks. They don’t want things to change. You and I are the only ones fighting them. The odds stink. We have to be smarter than they are.”
“Given their hiring practices, that shouldn’t be too hard.”
Chase laughed. “That’s the spirit. Now to the next problem.”
    “Crap, there’s more?”
“For the inmates. Not us.” He brought up other photos. “These women are close to release. Choose the ones Dick or Edward would likely frame to get their sentences extended.”
“You mean ones without family, outside resources, anyone who’d fight to get them out?”
    “Exactly.”
She touched his arm. “Who’s the client you’re working for? The inmate he or she is trying to protect would be the first one I’d eliminate. Anyone who can pay the agency isn’t likely to have a loved one Edward or Dick can exploit.”
Chase stroked her fingers. “Can’t tell you. I’m not being mysterious or difficult. I have to honor client confidentiality. When this is over, if the client agrees, I’ll let you know who it is.”
Hallie didn’t want to consider the end. Success wasn’t assured. The only certainty was that she’d never see him again. Saddened, she scrolled through three dozen mug shots and chose the most vulnerable women. “What do we do now? Wait for something to happen to them?”
“Nope.” He put her choices in a folder. “I’ve made certain I’m on duty when Dick and Edward are so I can monitor what’s going down. Jacqui’s watching the camera feed and knows to contact me immediately should anything happen. The moment they make a move, I’ll block them any way I can.”
“You can’t.” Hallie gripped his arm. “What if they become suspicious?”
    “They won’t.”
“There’s no guarantee. You could get hurt.”
“Not gonna happen to me or you.” He eased the specs off her and put them to the side. “Ready to see what you recorded?”
“How is this even legal? Did the agency get a warrant or whatever you need to use this stuff?”
“Everything’s handled. You have nothing to worry about, except maybe your food. Don’t want it dried out and shriveled up. We should eat.”
He wasn’t going to answer her. Reluctantly, she followed him into the kitchen. He pulled out a chair. “Sit.”
“I’m not hungry for food. I want you.” She couldn’t resist her aching need any longer. Time wasn’t on their side. She brought his mouth to hers and wilted against him, her fight gone, submission complete.
They swayed and turned tight circles, both trying to get closer, their impassioned kiss unruly. Shoes slapped linoleum. They bumped into a chair. It smacked against the table.
Hallie pulled her mouth free first and dropped to her knees.
    Chase gripped her wrists. “Wait.”
“No. Screw the main event, I want this first.”
“Fine with me, but the oven.” It pinged. “Your food.”
“I’ll make more.” Twisting her arms, she freed herself from his grip. Frantically, she pushed his button through its mooring and yanked down his fly.
His musk enveloped her. Nose to his navy boxer briefs, she breathed him in. Her brutal need skyrocketed. Restraint ended. She pulled down his clothes.
    Air whooshed from him.
She forgot to breathe. His cock brushed her cheek, the skin hot and silky. So taut it looked stretched, ready to split.
Hallie slipped his rod into her mouth.
“ Jeezus .” He wobbled back.
She clutched his ass to keep him close and took him in inch by glorious inch, his length longer than most men’s, his thickness and scent electrifying.
He lost his breath on a prolonged groan.
A wonderful sound. She wanted more. Staggering enjoyment, earth-shattering pleasure, hope they’d repeat this tomorrow and continue clear into the future. A heady, unreachable dream.
    They had now.
She opened her throat. His crown burrowed deep. Her nose touched his thick, fragrant thatch.
    Uncivilized sounds rumbled from him.
    She
