all had to go back to school on Monday.
“You saw that?” Bella asked, feeling pleased. “It’s all about dog treats. Sid’s really greedy. He’d do anything for them.”
“I wonder if Coco could.” Megan sighed. “She’s lovely, but I’m not very good at getting her to do what she’s told.”
“She is only little,” Sarah pointed out. “She’ll probably get more sensible as she gets older.”
“Maybe… But I wish she’d hurry up,” Megan sighed. “She keeps eating things. One of my mum’s shoes yesterday.”
“Why don’t you bring her to the dog-training classes at the church hall?” Bella suggested. “We’re starting to go next week.”
Megan looked hopeful. “That’s a good idea. Is the class OK for beginners, too? I mean, Sid’s already so good.”
Bella glowed. He
was
good. He was fabulous, actually. “I’m sure it’s all right,” she agreed proudly, watching Sid and Coco walking sweetly next to each other.
“They look like friends already,” Sarah said, laughing at them. “Look, they’re chatting.”
Bella looked over. It was true. Sid and Coco were standing with their heads together, watching a jogger speeding down the path towards them. They looked so cute beside each other.
“I don’t think they like his orange trainers,” Megan whispered, and Bella tried not to laugh. It felt good, being with Megan and Sarah. And Coco and Sid obviously loved walking together, as well.
“They’re definitely friends,” Bella said, smiling at Megan. She didn’t need to say it, but what she really meant was,
