he looked good enough to eat.
“Come in.” He leaned forward, pressing a kiss to her lips.
Soft music followed them as he showed her around. His home
was decorated in neutrals and tastefully done. A typical man’s home, there were
no personal touches anywhere to be found. Her mind began to wander as she
imagined a large vase filled with lilies on the fireplace mantel and how great
a picture would look above his couch.
Following him into the kitchen, she saw a small table set
for two.
“Andrew couldn’t come tonight. Something came up.”
Her heart fluttered. It meant she was going to spend the
evening with him alone. No Andrew to act as a buffer.
The thought stopped her cold. Was that how she thought of
Andrew?
She liked Andrew, he was a wonderful lover with an easy
smile, but if she was honest, her feelings for him didn’t go beyond friendship.
Dante was another matter altogether. She wasn’t stupid
enough to lie to herself. What she wanted from him went beyond mere friendship.
Whenever she was at work, near him and not touching him, it was tantamount to
torture. With the exception of what had happened in his office, there hadn’t
been anything inappropriate between them. She’d had to exert some serious
discipline to keep from jumping him.
“Are you okay with this?” He took her hand in his then
lifted it to his mouth and grazed her knuckles, kissed her temple. “You’re not
afraid to spend the evening alone with me, are you?”
Dear God, no. She wanted to be with him. She was
falling for him and falling hard.
“Come on, let’s eat.” He held out a chair for her. “I hope
you like Italian.” He set out a tray of lasagna and salad. Serving them both,
he opened a bottle of wine and poured her a glass.
“You seem out of sorts,” he observed. “Tell me what’s going
on.”
She shrugged. “After this afternoon, I guess I’m a little
flustered. I thought what we had going on included Andrew.”
He grabbed her. “What if I don’t want this to include Andrew
any longer?”
“Don’t you think you should have discussed this with me
first?”
“I told you when we started that I might reach this point.”
She shook her head, not understanding. “It appears you’ve
made the decision already.”
“I thought what happened this afternoon made the decision
for us.”
“Dante, you barely know me. What in the world made you
decide to make this a twosome?”
He sat back. “I’ve wanted you since the moment I met you.”
“You’ve only been at the company two months and never once
went out of your way to talk to me.” What was she thinking? She wanted this man
with a vengeance and now she was balking because he wanted to spend the evening
with her?
Dante rose from his chair. He wrapped his arms around hers
and hauled her up. “You need to stop thinking so much and just enjoy this…”
He lowered his mouth and kissed her. What started out as a
hard, bruising kiss softened to a sensual tasting. His tongue skated along the
seam of her lips, coaxing her to open for him. She held on to his waist to keep
from falling into the chair.
Opening her mouth, she sucked his tongue in, loving the way
their breath mingled as they fought to gain control of the kiss. His hand slid
up her back and through her hair, angling her head so he could dive deeper into
her mouth.
Her legs were wobbly and she clung to him more tightly. He
was branding her with his lips, teeth and tongue. She couldn’t remember being
kissed so thoroughly before in her life. His mouth left hers and traveled along
her jaw and up to her ear.
“I’ve been thinking about you riding me all fucking day
long. I’m so hard it hurts.”
She cried out as he bit her neck and sucked it. “That’s
going to leave a mark.”
He laughed against her skin. “Good.”
She pushed him back slightly. “My turn.” She went up on her
toes and licked a path down the side of his throat. She stopped long enough to
skim her palms up his chest
