Forces.”
“I guess dreams do come true.” Luna smiled.
    “I guess they do.”
    “Do you like it?”
    “What? The military?”
“Yeah. Are you an adrenaline junkie?”
Hunter leaned back in his chair. “No, I wouldn’t say that. I mean, it goes without saying its part of the job description, but I’m not one of those guys that every free moment is spent jumping out of planes or driving cars too fast.”
“But you like the violence, don’t you?” For some reason she was certain of it. It was probably what drew her to him.
Hunter shrugged. “When necessary.” He paused. “What makes you think that?”
Luna traced her finger on the table and shrugged. “It’s in your nature, an integral part of your personality. You don’t conceal it as well as you think.” She paused. “You gotta remember, I grew up around guys like you.”
“That’s right, your brother. How much older is he?”
    “A few years older.”
“And you also have a twin. That must be interesting.”
Luna smiled at the way he smoothly changed the subject. “I guess that’s one way to word it. We’re like night and day.”
    “Are you close?”
“Yeah, we drifted apart for a while because she was involved with some asshole loser, but she finally saw the light and left his ass. I couldn’t imagine my life without her.”
    “That’s cool.”
    “What about you, any siblings?”
She could have sworn his eyes clouded over for just a moment, but he shook his head. “A brother.”
    “Older or younger?”
    “A couple of years younger.”
Just then the waitress returned and set their food in front of them. In between bites, they continued to make small talk. Slowly learning bits and pieces about the others’ lives, but not digging deep enough to really know anything. They remained guarded and casual during dinner.
However, as soon as they left the restaurant all pretenses were dropped.

Chapter Seven

She didn’t know who reached for who first, but in the span of a heartbeat, Hunter was coiling his arms around her waist and tugging her close. His touch felt hot on her skin beneath her clothing. Hunter walked her backwards, until her back was pressed against his truck. One of his hands fisted in her hair. Effortlessly, he took possession of her mouth, kissing her with an intensity that stole her breath. The warmth of his body washed over her. She lost herself in the shocking sensuality of the kiss.
In the distance, she could hear car doors slamming, the crunching of gravel, and people talking, but she didn’t care.
His tongue slid between her lips, swirling with hers and kissing her thoroughly. As she suspected, his lips were firm and confident. Soft moans of pleasure escaped as his free hand roamed, touching as much of her as he could. His hand slid down her hair, her shoulder, and over her spine, stopping at the small of her back. He jerked her forward, pressing her hips to his. The swell of his erection through his jeans nearly undid her. All of her senses were concentrated on him. She could smell a hint of cologne—something woodsy and intoxicating—hear the steady beat of his heart, and felt the solid muscles of his thighs against hers.
Her body was quick to respond; she could feel the dampness between her legs along with an aching pressure.
One of his hands cupped the underside of her breast and squeezed slightly, as his thumb slid across her nipple. Her head lolled back, sighing as he made his way greedily down her neck. Everywhere he touched her body throbbed, and the places he hadn’t touched were practically begging to experience him. She’d never been more aware of every inch of her skin before. It was insane.
Tearing his mouth from hers, he ended the kiss suddenly. Instantly, she felt a wild sense of loss. The unfamiliar sensation not only puzzled her, but worried her. She shook her head to chase away the strange feeling.
He framed her face in his hands and swiped
