Kate slid off of Adir and joined David on the carpet, letting him
wrap his arms around her and cradle her to his chest. She didn't care what Adir
saw or what he thought about it. Kate listened to her husband's heartbeat, felt
the warmth, the heat between them, and put all the hurt and disappointment
behind her. In that moment, the connection between them was rekindled, and Kate
wasn't going to second-guess how they'd gotten there.
Sweeping her sweat-soaked hair back from her forehead, David
kissed her deeply and then nuzzled her nose with his. When she opened her eyes,
he was already looking at her with a tired, satisfied smile on her face.
"You okay?" she whispered.
He smiled and nodded, then leaned in and whispered in her ear.
"Best two out of three?"
