run you home, and we can pick up tomorrow.” She stood up.
“You coming to the party tonight?” I asked quickly.
She shrugged. “Wes and I might swing by.”
I bit down on my lip to keep from telling her to stay the hell away from Wes. I helped her gather the rest of the books, and then to my house.
I thanked her for today. She really was helpful. I grabbed my stuff from the trunk. The house was completely cleaned. I’m really glad I hired that cleaning lady, because I sure as hell didn’t want to do it.
I walked, stiff-legged, to my bedroom. My legs were still hurting, and I ended up just falling into my bed. I lay there thinking about the craziness that was my life. The past few days had been like I was in a Wizard of Oz tornado.
I heard my phone ringing in my pocket. When I retrieved it, I saw that it was Amber. I hit ignore. I wasn’t dealing with her right now. At that very moment, all I wanted to do was close my eyes. But when I did, the schedule that Katie made for me for the next weeks flashed before my eyes. How was I going to make it through this semester?

Chapter 5 – Katie

Since it was going to be cold tonight, and I wasn’t sure where Wes was taking me, I put on black leggings, with a purple sweater dress. I matched it with a black belt and black knee-high boots. I put my hair up in a ponytail, and curled the ends. Silver earrings and a dome ring completed my outfit. Of course, I always have my necklace on. It doesn’t matter what I wear.
“Whoa, someone is getting laid tonight.” Lindsay was leaning against the bathroom doorframe as I finished up my makeup.
“I need something to help me relax after this week.” Since Friday morning, my life had been chaotic. It was going to be a long semester. Between my schedule, Andrew’s schedule, and my personal life, it was going to be fast paced, but I was sort of looking forward to it. I rubbed the necklace around my neck. The busier I was, the more I was able to keep any dark thoughts at bay.
    “So, how was Andrew today?”
I looked at my friend, and nodded. “So far, so good.” I didn’t tell her about what happened with the girl in his bed, or the fact that I pretty much chewed his ass out this morning. But, he was acting like a small child, and needed to hear it.
Andrew didn't get that life wasn't only about hockey and partying. Even if he made it into the NHL, he would still have responsibilities. I thought he was a good guy, but spoiled, and used to having everything handed to him. On the other hand, I had to work and work for every single thing in my life. That was just my life.
“So, where are you going tonight?” Lindsay asked, sipping from her red Solo cup.
I shook my head. “I have no clue. Wes said it was a surprise.”
“Franks and I are going to Andrew’s tonight, you want to meet up there? I mean, if you’re not staying the night with Wes.” She winked at me.
“I’ll text you later and let you know what’s going on, okay?”
At that moment, the doorbell rang. Lindsay pushed off the frame and went to answer it. I heard her welcome Wes into the apartment. They were chatting in the living room and I ran into the bedroom to grab my purse and phone before I joined them.
Wes was wearing a light blue dress shirt and dark jeans. His dark hair was in a faux hawk, and his eyes looked me up and down. He smiled, and my heart fluttered a little bit as I looked back at him.
“Are you ready to go?” he asked in a soft, smooth voice.
I nodded. I winked at Lindsay before leaving with Wes. He took my hand and rubbed his thumb over my knuckles, and I felt my cheeks heat up.
Wes walked me to his truck and opened the door for me. The truck was so big I had to jump up into my seat. I was thankful I had chosen my black leggings over my black mini skirt.
Wes hopped in the driver’s seat and said, “So, here’s my plan: dinner at my place. What do you think?”
    “Um . . . sure.” But I wasn’t sure. I mean, I liked him,
