kiss.
“That’s not—” Another.
“And if you think…” She started but he cut her off.
“I can do this all night.” He took a step forward, put his arms around her and planted one on her good. He didn’t settle for a smooch this time. He opened his mouth, licked her lips, pressed his tongue between them, and the moment she let him in he knew she was going to let him into her life as well.
He pulled back and looked down at her. She was breathless and whispered, “I know.”
“So tell me about your auditions. Have you gotten any roles?” He smiled down at her. He reached for her hand again and she let him slide his fingers between hers for a firmer grip. She wasn’t a supermodel, six-foot something and all legs. She was close to that height. He stood six-two according to his stats. She wasn’t just legs either. She had a body he could explore for days, weeks, maybe even a lifetime.
“I’ve been an extra in a few things. No lines. No SAG card.” She shrugged.
“What’s the SAG?”
“Screen Actors Guild. Don’t you know anything about the business you are getting into?”
“I know my sports agent helped transition me to The Harvey Agency.”
“You got on with Harvey?” That must have been a bigger deal than he thought it was. She stopped and turned to look at him. They could see the apartments from where they were standing.
“It’s not a big agency.” He assured her.
“No, it’s an exclusive agency. They hand pick new clients. Whoever your sports agent is, you need to send that guy something nice. I don’t know what I would be willing to give just to get in the door to talk to them.” She was so animated about it all. He wondered if he couldn’t get her in the door to talk to someone and negotiate his reward for making it happen.
“ When do you go back to work?” he asked as they entered the apartment complex.
“Next week. Bo told me to take the week off. I have sick days I have never used. I have vacation time, too. I just don’t have anywhere to go anymore.” She laughed but it wasn’t a fun laugh it was a sad laugh. “It’s funny that when I didn’t have the time or money I had lots of places I could have gone to. Now that I am doing okay on both accounts, I have nowhere.”
“You have the whole world, though I don’t recommend some parts of it.” He let her hand go as they stood in front of the elevators. He looked at her and her adorable outfit. She probably wore a dress because it was easier to put on. The shoes were also easy to slip into. “Hey, how did you get your hair like that?”
“My neighbor, Melody stopped by this morning.”
“I would have come down. I don’t know that I could manage to get it up there like that, but I could have put it in a ponytail for you. Or a braid, I think I still know how to do that.” He thought back to when Dagney was little and visited.
“How?” It seemed she was shocked he could do either.
“Dagney. She was such a rough little kid, but our mom always made her keep her hair long, so she pretty much kept it pulled up in a ponytail or hanging down her back in a braid. Two styles a big brother learned to navigate thanks to a little sister.” He walked with her to her door.
“Are you coming in?”
“Can I?”
She nodded.

Harmony let him in. He locked the door behind himself. She hung up her keys and tried to figure out what to do next. “It’s early.”
He yawned. “I know. I’m still adjusting to the time zone change.”
She took a seat on the couch and he sat next to her. “Well. Here we are.”
“Where is your family?” he asked and turned his body to face her.
“ Here. My parents are anyways. My mom and dad have a restaurant. It was always their dream. When my brother was killed in action in the war they got his life insurance money and in his will he said he wanted them to use it for that. Casa de Carlos was opened a year later.”
“I’m sorry about…”
“It’s been five
