he’s good friends with Alex’s cousin,” Dave Flynn, Alex’s Lieutenant, stated to Logan and Vince.
They watched as Alex received slaps on his back and comments about the performance on stage.
Logan and Vince were listening as he walked by them smiling and laughing. Suddenly, Logan stopped Alex and grabbed him. He inhaled as Vince did the same.
“What’s up?” Alex asked, sounding drunk.
“Nothing. Congratulations!” Vince said then pulled Logan’s hands off of Alex’s shirt. Frankie, Jake, and Sunny joined them.
“That stripper was amazing, and what a fucking body. Man, I wish I could find me a piece of ass like that to take home. I’d never let her out of my bed,” Sunny said.
“What’s wrong with him?” Jake asked Vince.
“The stripper? She’s our mate,” he stated, and their low growls filled the immediate space.
Frankie grabbed Logan’s shirt. “What are you fucking saying?”
“Go smell Alex right now. Our mate’s scent is all over his fucking clothes,” he stated through clenched teeth.
“Let’s go find her,” Sunny growled then looked around the room like a wild animal. Vince pulled Logan and Sunny closer.
“We can’t do that. How the fuck are we going to explain that we know the stripper and the bartender are the same person?”
“We don’t have to explain shit. She’s done working here. She’s done on that fucking stage. And if I see another man touch her I’m going to rip his fucking throat out.”
“Calm down, Logan. We need to think about this.”
They all looked at Jake.
“Did you have your eyes covered when our mate was up there stripping? She’s ours, no one else’s, Jake. This ends now!” Frankie growled then headed through the crowd. His brothers had no other choice but to follow him.

“That was fantastic, Mel! My God, that crowd is still cheering for more. I think that was our best performance yet,” Charlie stated as Melissa removed the money from her underwear and cleavage. The long silk robe hung open as she did it.
“Don’t get any ideas, Charlie. That was probably my last performance.”
“No! Oh, please, you can’t be serious? Look at the money you just made.”
She stared at him through the mirror.
“I don’t like doing it. You know that, Charlie, so why are you pushing this?”
“How are you going to maintain paying the bills and helping all those people you are financially supporting?”
She released a sigh.
“I’ll figure it out, Charlie. With Aunt Peggy out of the hospital and most of the bills paid, I’m in better shape. Celine has that job and a babysitter, and the others are all working now and supporting their own families. I need to worry about the kids.”

Frankie heard the whole conversation, and so did his brothers. They waited for Charlie to leave the room, and when he did, they told him they needed to see Lola.
“Sorry, guys, she’s off-limits.” He refused then tried to get them to go back into the hallway.
“It’s important, Charlie, and you know we’re not here to hurt her,” Logan added.
“I can’t. She’s a good friend, and despite what you just saw out there, she’s shy and really a great person. I think of her like a daughter. Lola doesn’t see anyone offstage.”
They were silent a moment. They really didn’t want to force their way in there.
“How about Mel? Would she be interested in seeing us?” Vince asked, remembering that the other bartender told him that was the female bartender’s name.
Charlie’s eyes widened. “What are you talking about?”
“We know that Lola and Melissa are the same person.”
“No one knows that. She’s kept it a secret for a reason. She has kids, a family to support, and bills for her sick aunt. Please, guys,” Charlie begged.
Logan touched his arm.
“We’re not going to hurt her. She’s important to us, Charlie. She’s our mate,” he stated then showed his wolf eyes to Charlie.
