    She ran her hand over my chest. “I could eat you.”
    I kissed her forehead. “Anytime.”
    “You work out a lot?”
    “Every day.”
    “That explains a lot.”
    “I can’t wait to see what you look like.”
    “I hope you like it.”
    “I can promise you that I will.”
    She kissed my neck gently then rested her head on my chest. “Can we sleep together for a while?”
    “Sure,” I said. I grabbed my alarm from the nightstand and set it for a few hours later. “I want to make sure we wake up. I don’t want to take you home in the morning. That would be inappropriate.”
    “Ethan knows it will happen eventually.”
    “Well, eventually isn’t now.” I moved next to her and wrapped her in my arms.
    She sighed happily as she cuddled in my arms.
    “Elisa?”
    “Yeah?”
    “Thank you for taking a chance on me.”

    “So, what happened?” Alex asked as he spotted me on the bench.
    “Ethan agreed.”
    “He did?”
    “I was surprised to o.” I did a few reps before my arms started to shake. Alex took the bar and racked it.
    “That’s a lot of weight. Why are you doing so much?”
    I was quiet for a moment. “No reason.”
    “So I can talk to Sadie again?”
    “Only when he’s around.”
    “I knew there would be a catch,” he said with a sigh. “Can I talk to her today?”
    “I guess. I don’t know what she’s doing.”
    “Is she living with him yet?”
    “Yeah. She just got settled.”
    “Can you take me over there?”
    “Can you go by yourself?”
    “Well, what if Ethan changes his mind when he sees me.”
    I laughed. “You’re such a pussy.”
    “Hey. I like my face the way it is. It’s a lot harder to pick up chicks when you only have one eye and two teeth.”
    “Good point,” I sai d. “So you’re trying to move on?”
    He shrugged. “I guess. I wish I went for Sadie when I had the chance.”
    “If it makes you feel better, I don’t think she would have wanted you anyway.”
    “Yeah, I feel loads better now,” he said sarcastically.
    “Sorry.”
    “Can we go now?”
    “Yeah. Let’s shower and head over.”
    We left the gym and went into the locker room. After we we re done, we walked up the block until we reached the small townhouse. I was wearing the suit I wore to work, and Alex was wearing slacks and a collared shirt. I could tell that he was nervous because of how quiet he was.
    I knocked on the door and waited for someone to answer it.
    When I saw Elisa open the door with a smile on her face, my heart melted. “Hi.”
    “Hey.” Without thinking, I wrapped my arms around her and kissed her gently. She reciprocated my affection immediately.
    She rubbed her nose against mine before she pulled away. “What brings you here?”
    “Other than seeing my gorgeous girlfriend? Well, we wanted to talk to Ethan and Sadie. Are they here?”
    “Yeah. Come in.”
    Alex and I walked inside.
    She shook his hand while she smiled at him. “Hi, I’m Elisa.”
    He smiled back. “Alex. I’ve heard a lot about you.”
    “I hope they were good things that you heard,” she said with a glance at me. She and I were both thinking the same thing, remembering our foreplay last night.
    “Very good things,” he said with a nod.
    “I’ll be right back,” she said as she walked down the hallway.
    Alex looked at me. “Getting serious?”
    “I think so.”
    “Have you slept with her?”
    I glared at him. “Even if I did, I wouldn’t tell you.”
    He raised an eyebrow. “Don’t get psycho on me. You tell me about every girl you sleep with. Sorry , I didn’t know that fact didn’t apply to Elisa.”
    “Sorry,” I said.
    “You better be.”
    Ethan walked down the hall with Sadie trailing behind him. He completely ignored me and stared at Alex with demonic fire spewing out of his eyes. I would hate to be Alex right then. I’ve been the recipient of that stare a few times. I was suddenly distracted when I felt Elisa wrap her arm around my waist and move close to me.
