it.”
I huff, stomping behind him.  Asshole.   He stops in front of a shiny black Hummer.  Beeping the locks, he opens the passenger door.
    “In.”
    I stay put.
    “Now.”
    I still don’t move.
“Do not fucking test me, Cassidy.”
    “Fine,” I grit out.
    “Thank you,” he replies sarcastically.
He shuts the door behind me and stalks around the front of the vehicle. I contemplate reaching over and locking the doors on him, but then I remember he has the keys anyway, so locking him out would be pointless.
    “Where are we going?”
“Nowhere.  We’re going to sit here and talk.”
    “Why?”
Rather than answer me, he stays silent for a solid minute.
“I can’t believe you’re here,” he says.  I feel him looking at me, but I can’t bring myself to tear my eyes away from my knees.
Over the years, I thought I might have imagined the deep aquamarine color of his eyes.  I thought maybe my daughter possessed them by sheer genetic fluke, but seeing him today, I realize her eyes are definitely his.  She’s the spitting image of her father anyway, but those eyes.  They’re unique, they draw you in, enrapture you.
“Where have you been these past six years?”
“How’s Madeline?”  I avoid his question, asking one of my own instead.
“She’s well.  She got married about two months ago.”
“She did?  Wow, that’s awesome.”  I feel a pang of hurt and regret, but I push it aside and concentrate on the happiness I feel for her.  “Is her husband nice?”
“Do you really want to talk about Madeline?”
“Yes,” I lie.  Really, I don’t want to talk about anything. I want to jump out of this vehicle and take off running.
He sighs.  “She’s very happy.  He’s a successful guy and they’re in love.”
“I’m happy for her.  I miss her,” I admit softly.
    “Why did you leave?”
“Is my mother still married to your father?” I evade his question once again.
“Yes,” he answers shortly, clearly annoyed with me.
Wow, Mother has set a new record.
He runs his hands through his hair in sheer frustration, and the sight causes a memory to pummel into me.

CHAPTER SIX
    THEN
    Five years, 10 months ago

“No one would know, Cassidy,” he whispers, enticingly.  He runs his hands through his dark hair, and my own fingers itch to follow his path.
“No,” I whisper back with no conviction.
“Just you and me.  I know you want it.  I see the way you look at me.  It’s the same way I look at you.” He leans in and his lips touch my neck, sending an involuntary shiver of delight down my spine.  He feels it and I feel his lips move into a smirk against my skin.
“It’s wrong, Brock,” I attempt, worry creeping into my tone.
“No, it’s not.  We’re not related by blood at all.  We’re just two people who want each other.  Trust me, baby.  We’ll be so good together.”  He sucks a piece of my flesh into his mouth and I whimper as my body presses into him on it’s own accord.  I can feel his length hard up against my stomach and it makes the dull ache between my legs throb.
His hands cup my neck, full of possession.
“Okay,” I agree, so softly it’s barely audible.  He hears it, though, because no sooner has the word fallen from my lips, than his mouth crushes into mine and he takes possession of my mind and body.  Tearing his mouth from mine, we’re both panting, but eager for more.  He walks me backwards until my knees hit the edge of my bed, and then we’re tugging each other’s clothes off in a flurry.  My dress comes over my head and is tossed across the room, leaving me in only my underwear.  I fumble with the buttons of his shirt, finally discarding it, and exposing the tanned muscular torso that lies beneath.  He unclasps my bra and it falls down my arms, while I make short work of his jeans and boxers, pushing them down over his taut butt.  His cock springs free, but I only get to glance at it for a
