watched you struggle with your luggage by yourself?â
She smiledâthe devious one that made his stomach drop. âYouâd be like every other man on the planet.â She picked up the smaller bag and hoofed it to the bus.
Devin was so focused on the mesmerizing way her butt jiggled that he didnât budge until Crash elbowed him.
âQuit standing there and move it. Iâm right behind you.â
He snagged the handles and let out a grunt. Had she packed cannonballs in here? He trailed behind her, trying like hellâand failing miserablyâto keep his eyes off her ass. So he nearly plowed into her when they entered the bus.
âHoly frigginâ hell.â Liberty had stopped in the living area and was gawking.
âKeep movinâ. Iâve gotta get these bricks unloaded,â he grumbled.
âFunny. Which bunk is mine?â
âBoth. Since youâre the only other passenger.â
âSweet. I wondered where Iâd put everything.â
Devin dragged the duffel bag the last few feet. âI figured youâd be the type to pack light, not drag four bags along.â
âGuns and ammo take up a lot of room.â
She had to be joking.
But the look on her face said she wasnât.
Devin pointed to the area below the first bunk. âThere are locking drawers for all your firepower.â
âThanks.â Liberty didnât ask for help hoisting her bags.
âAll right. See you guys in Salt Lake because I donât plan on stopping.â
Liberty looked at Crash. âYouâre on the other bus?â
âIâm driving the other bus.â He grinned. âHow do you think I got my name?â
âIâm thanking the universe Iâm not riding with you.â
After Crash departed, Devin stood there like a dumb-ass, staring at her.
Of course she caught him staring. âWhat?â
âYou look . . . different.â
Her gaze sharpened. âYou
told
me to look different, remember?â
âYes, but I didnât think youâd look like this.â His admiring, borderline lustful gaze swept her body from head to toe and back up.
âSeriously? I get the slack-jawed response that Sandra Bullock got in
Miss Congeniality
after her makeover and thereâs no one around to see it?â
âAnd thatâs where the comparison ends, because there ainât nothinâ congenial about you.â
She blushed but kept her stubborn chin lifted.
Feeling ornery, he didnât let it go. âI find the section of blue hair . . . interesting. Whyâd you do it?â
âI swear a blue streak and thought my new, improved look should reflect that.â
Devin laughed. âIt worked. You lookââfucking fantasticââincredible.â
Her silvery eyes turned a dark, stormy gray. âItâs a damn good thing youâre not attracted to me in the least, donât you agree?â
Now he looked away. Thatâd been an asshole thing to say. And the fact sheâd overheard it? Now he knew why sheâd given him the cold shoulder atthe GSC offices. âTakes two to two-step, darlinâ. You swore Iâm not your type either.â
Her startled expression indicated sheâd forgotten that.
âNow, we done with this whoâs hot and whoâs not sniping so I can show you the rest of the bus?â
âWeâre done.â
âCome on.â
Liberty was properly awed by their luxury traveling coach. âI spent somany years riding in the back of transport trucks and in Humvees, I doubt Iâll get used to this. This place is way nicer than my apartment. Itâs a little surreal.â
âFor me too,â he confessed. âEven after a dozen years in this business, I keep expecting Iâll wake up and find itâs all been a dream.â Why had he told her something so personal? Now she probably thought he was even more of a
