we meet that your parents will actually let you go? Some place where boys don’t go.”
    “The library?”
“What’s a library?” Chase laughed. “Actually that’s a great idea. Its right by your house and my parents will die of happiness if I say I’m going anywhere near there.”
    “How about tomorrow at six?”
“Sounds great.” Chase leaned in and kissed her again. He could really get used to that. The bell rang and startled them, making both laugh. Lyla got out of his car and ran to hers.
For the next two months Chase and Lyla met at the library. Sometimes they studied but mostly they laughed and talked or made out. The make out sessions were going too far. Cloaking could only go so far when your emotions were compromised. Lyla found that out and now it was getting hard to conceal just being together. She was too happy. The cloak was harder to evoke when she was emotionally up.
“Chase, my parents are leaving tomorrow. They’ll be gone overnight.”
“Really? Can I come over?” He smiled knowing the answer.
“The alarm would be horrible.” Lyla smiled. Her parents placed a spell on the house, clearly for their protection but mainly to keep Lyla from being harmed.
“Maybe we could go somewhere then? Like a movie?”
    “That would be great!”
They said their goodbye’s and went their separate ways. Lyla walking home and Chase to his car.
When Chase got home his parents were sitting at the dinner table. He dropped his keys in the dish by the front door and walked over to them.
    “Hi.”
“Hello. Why don’t you sit down?”
Chase did an inward groan. He sat.
“Your mother and I will be leaving a bit this year. It’s a busy one for our business so you’ll be alone a lot.”
Oh happy day. He tried not to show how happy he was about that. “Oh, okay. If I need anything I can always go to Jaden’s.”
“Precisely. Chase, you’re doing well this year, any idea on a college yet? How about the schools we picked out?”
“Yale and Harvard? Purdue? I’m not really excited to go out of state Dad.”
“There’s nothing wrong with expanding your horizons.”
“It’s also cold in those places, and gray.” Chase was trying to figure out how to explain to his Dad that he already applied to The University of Florida, UF for short. There were things his Dad wouldn’t understand. Most of the places he talked about needed pedigrees and applications a mile long. Chase was easygoing and needed sun. He realized with a start that he needed Lyla, too. He needed her like he needed water.
    “What do you think?”
“I’m sorry?” Crap he thought, he had been talking in his own head and didn’t listen.
“What do you think about a big graduation party? The Governor of Florida plans on attending.”
“Well, couldn’t we just have something small? Maybe out by the pool and some pizza?”
His father looked at Chase with a mild form of disgust and humor. “Why don’t we talk about this later? Your mother and I have to pack. We’ll be gone for a few days. Here’s some money.” His father produced a large wad of bills. Chase truly didn’t understand how his father got around in life thinking his son needed this much. On every occasion they left, they gave him hundreds of dollars. Chase lived on pizza or whatever was in the fridge and pocketed the money. “Thanks Dad.”
Chase went upstairs and lay down on his bed. Tomorrow could be fun.
The next day was impossible to get any time with Lyla during school. He was pulled in so many different directions that even trying to see her through the charm was hard. He raced out to the parking lot at the end and caught her as she was leaving in her car.
“Lyla. Wait.” He jumped into the passenger side and shut the door, sealing the invisibility charm.
    “Hi.”
He finally got a good look at her today. She was stunning in a white sweater, jeans and her hair was pulled up in to a ponytail. He could stare at her for hours. “Hi.”
    Lyla
