on rooftops. There are so many great advantages of growing an aeroponics garden.
First of all, aeroponics gardening uses absolutely no soil, meaning you don’t have to deal with weeding, fertilizers or soil management. Secondly, aeroponics systems use only about 10% of the water compared to traditional gardens. All the water in the system is recycled so there’s no runoff which is why you can grow plants with much less water than traditional gardening. With aeroponics the plants also grow much faster as well (NASA quoted that plants in aeroponic systems grow at least twice as fast as soil gardens).
Aeroponics can be used to grow almost anything, including herbs, fruits, vegetables and flowers. These systems can be placed in small spaces, such as decks, balconies, rooftops, porches and patios and indoors near windows.
There are different types of systems available, big and small. You can also try making the system yourself. These systems pretty much resemble a tower. Some people use nothing more than a sealable storage bin, fittings and PVC pipes (just be warned that PVC will leach phthalates and other toxic chemicals into the plants – which is why I never use it for gardening). A pump is also needed to recycle and deliver the water for your irrigation system.
Aeroponics gardens require weekly maintenance that consists of adding water to the reservoir and testing the water/nutrient solution pH to make sure it’s in an acceptable range (5 to 7 is required for the plants to absorb nutrients from the water).

This chef in New York City grows all his produce fresh on the rooftop of his restaurant with about 30 Vertical Tower Garden units.
