been kissed rearing starkly in her brain.
God, no man has touched me since…
There was an explosion of movement as something slammed into Darren like a freight train, knocking him to his knees. Rhee fell back against the car as the man’s aversive touch was forcibly removed from her person. A shock of blond hair and a pair of furious blue eyes appeared on the periphery of her vision and her mouth fell open in shock. Rhee blinked, wondering just how hard she had hit her head as she tried to process what she was seeing .
I am obviously hallucinating, because that white-blond hair and those eyes could belong to no other man than…
    Crack!
The sickening crunch of fists on flesh and the horrible sound of bones breaking disrupted her line of thought. Rhee blinked again, not quite believing her eyes.
    That hair, those shoulders…Oh, God…
It was Dax! He had appeared out of the darkness like a knight in shining…leather. No, not leather. Rhee struggled to focus her eyes in the dim light. Shit, how hard did I hit my head?! Is he wearing a suit? Where did he come from? It took a minute for her brain to process what she was seeing. It was totally nonsensical that Dax Jamison would be here, on an island, and clad in a shiny, gray suit no less.
Jesus Christ, how many times is this guy going to save me from my own shitty luck?
Rhee spent nearly three years unsuccessfully trying to erase memories of the tall, muscled biker from her heart. Now, here he was again, saving the day, like he had done so many times before. It was enough to make her feel a little disenfranchised, even though she was grateful for his help. Again.
My own personal Mighty Mouse, Rhee thought half-hysterically. Her head pounding, she slid to the ground as shock, fear, and anxiety momentarily overwhelmed her.
    Everything is ruined now. Everything.

Chapter Six
    “Dax!”
His arm drew back to mete out another blow and it was only by the grace of God that he didn’t put his elbow into Rhee’s face as she came up behind him. Dax was in an anger-induced, red haze that compelled him to flatten the little peckerwood before him into the ground. He wasn’t sure how many times he laid into the sniveling excuse for a man before the fog receded and Dax became aware of what he was doing.
    “Dax! Stop!”
Something tugged on his arm. That voice, tinged with fear and shock, and the sensation of those small fingers on his tense bicep finally jolted Dax out of his violent rage. With supreme effort, he got to his feet, testosterone and adrenaline coursing through him. Dax was dangerously close to completely losing control of all of his faculties. He turned his back on Rhee in an attempt to gather his composure. His fists clenched reflexively as he spat on the ground and then walked several paces away, shaking his head as though the action would clear it.
The bizarre irony of it all was that now that he had Rhee within his grasp, Dax could hardly look at her. Disturbing, unexpected images were running through his heated, male brain. He warred with himself internally as he pictured himself grabbing the stowaway and branding her with his mouth. Competing visions of pulling up the long skirt she wore and reddening her pert little ass for being so naïve overwhelmed him and he had to take several deep breaths to calm himself. Underneath it all beat conflicting sensations of painful yearning and cold anger that stemmed from being abandoned—even though he would never admit those feelings to himself.
He took a deep breath, forcing the thoughts and the strange, dull ache in his chest away. Taking a few more deep breaths, Dax took stock of himself and of his surroundings. He had waited for her, of course. After the meeting with Vidal was arranged for the following afternoon, Dax sent Wince to collect the grunts from whatever bar they were currently raising hell in. Then, he scouted out the ballroom, located Rhee, and confirmed, without a doubt, that the guy she was with was
