good enough for me. I could just beat Mason, for saying that. Wyatt and I, we had such a wonderful time this weekend and Mason ruined it and my whole life, dad.”
My dad wrapped his arms around me and let me cry out as much pain as I could. When I w as done, he handed me his handkerchief that he always carried.
“Come on down and get something to eat and then we’ll figure this out.”
    “But dad…..”
“No but’s young lady you get up from that bed and eat. I won’t let you make yourself sick.”
    “Okay.”
“That’s better. I’ll see you in a few.”
I grudgingly got out of bed and walked to the bathroom to take a shower. When I got out of the shower, I looked at myself in the mirror. I really looked like crap. I put on a change of clothes and brushed my hair. Reluctantly, I walked down to the kitchen.
I was about to walk into the kitchen, when I heard my dad say.
“He said what! That is just plan ass stupid, why would he think that.”
I stepped through the doorway, looking at my dad.
“Who are you talking about? Did Wyatt call? What did he say?”
My dad looked down at the floor, then at Carson. Carson cleared his throat and answered for my father.
“I called Wyatt this morning and we talked for a while. He has got something stuck in his head and I just couldn’t get him to see reason.”
Carson paused and avoided eye contact with me.
“He thinks that you should go back to California with Mason.”
    “What?”
“He said that, Mason can give you everything you want and need. He thinks he has nothing to offer you, because he lives in his mom’s house and he works on the family ranch and makes furniture for extra money. I tried to tell him that, ranchers live a different life. That it’s not uncommon to have several families under the same roof, but he wouldn’t listen to me.”
“That bossy arrogant man, what the hell is he thinking? I would live in a tent, if it meant I could stay with him. I will not go back to California with Mason; I don’t want anything to do with him. I don’t love, Mason and I realize now, I never did.”
“That’s what I told him, but he wouldn’t listen. What are you going to do? You’re not going to give up on him are you?”
“Hell no, I’ll let him have a little pity party for a while. I just wish some way I could make him see reason.

Chapter 16

I sat at the dining room table eating dinner, not saying a word. I ate the food but couldn’t tell you what it was I was eating. I was just walking through life right now, on autopilot. I was just going through the motions of living. It had been five days since I had seen Kenna , plus five very long nights. She had called at least a dozen times, but I just couldn’t talk to her, it would hurt too much.
The mood at the dining room table seemed to be quite sullen. Everyone seemed to walk on egg shells around me. My mom hadn’t said much, but I could tell I wasn’t her favorite person right now.
I had just picked up a fork full of some type meat we were eating for dinner when my mom slammed her hands down on the table as hard as she could. It startled me so bad, my fork went clattering to my plate and I jumped, I looked up to see Jesse and Josh with a surprised look on their face that probably mirrored my own.
“ENOUGH! DO YOU HEAR ME, WYATT JAMES WALKER? ”
My mouth just hung open in shock.
    “Mom…..”
“Don’t you dare, mom me. I have sat here and watched you wallow around in this self-inflicted self-pity, for almost a week. No more, do you understand me young man. I don’t care if your twenty six or sixty, this will stop right now. You have a wonderful woman, who loves you, not what you can buy her, but you, just you. You’re treating her like she is some type of shallow bimbo, who is after nothing but money from the man she’s in love with. How dare you, disrespect her like that.”
I just stared in shock at my mom. She had never spoken to any of us like this before. Jesse and
