my fingers through Angel’ s hair as she laid her head on my chest. It was moments like those that made me feel completely at peace. If only my brother would get in line I wouldn’t have anything to worry about when it came to family. “Did Chance come home yet?”
“Not sure,” she mumbled with a yawn. “You know he’s been staying out a lot later and sometimes not coming home at all.”
I couldn’t understand what was keeping that lit tle nigga in Harlem so much. I was hoping it wasn’t anything that would get him in trouble. The last time he was in trouble in Harlem he ended up with a bunch of bullets in his body and I had a war on my hands seeking retribution.

    CHAPTER SEVEN
    ANGEL
It was finally the day of Tyga’s club opening and my cousins and I were at Theresa’s getting our hair and nails done in preparation for the party. We always had to have our game on point because bitches would just love to catch us slipping on our appearance.
Daisy had gotten her hair done in a short Halley Berry cu t and dyed it chestnut brown. My girl was looking gorgeous. The hair color was really bringing out the color of her beautiful light brown eyes and with all the weight she had lost her body was going to be banging in the dress she was planning on wearing tonight. My girl still didn’t have an ass for shit, but with that face, she really didn’t need one.
Keya was currently getting a new twenty-six inch Peruvian weave sewn into her hair. And of all the colors she could have picked, she chose auburn red with her dark ass self. I wasn’t sure how that shit was going to turn out, but with the skills Theresa had I was hoping she would be able to help my cousin pull it off.
Theresa had washed my hair and given it a layered cut. Afterwards, she blow dried it until it was beauti ful, shiny and bouncy. I had to admit that my shit was looking fabulous.
Nancy was hooking my nails up while Daisy sat with her hands under the nail dryer .
“Girl you wouldn’t believe who dropped in the other day,” Theresa was saying to Keya as she worked on her hair. “Because the shop has been hella busy today I almost forgot to tell you.”
    “Who?”
“You remember that chick Carla you were hanging with that summer a couple years back? The one whose ass Angel had to beat because she kept accusing her of sleeping with her man.”
How could any of us forget Jayvon’s baby mama? She brought nothing but drama to my life for an entire summer, although I had zero interest in her baby daddy. It’s sad to say, but Von committed suicide a couple of months after I told him that Carter had HIV and he should get tested because he had been sleeping with Keya without protection. I felt bad for him when I heard about it and always wondered if he had tested positive and took his life because he didn’t want to live with the virus.
“Damn right we remember that bitch. What happened to her?” Daisy interjected before her sister could respond.
“The hoe showed up in here the other day to get her hair done,” Nancy answered, shaking her head sadly. “You should have seen the poor thing too. She was looking a hot mess.”
“How was she looking a hot mess?” I wondered curiously.
“That girl lost so much damn weight she’s looking like nothing but skin and bones,” Theresa replied with a look of disgust on her face. “And she was carrying this really weird scent. I wonder if she’s on drugs, or if it’s some type of disease.” It was as though she still smelled Carla’s scent the way she was scrunching up her nose.
I was also wondering if Carla had some type of disease, specifically HIV/AIDS. If so we all knew where it came from.
I looked over at my cousin , but she didn’t seem affected by what she had just heard. Daisy was also looking at her sister with a thoughtful look on her face that told me the same wheels that were turning in my head were also turning in hers. Did Keya have HIV and
