getting fired!”
The five of us looked up at Jennifer like a group of terrified puppies. She dismissed us with a wave of her hand and gave everyone a complimentary glare as they left the board room. Not me though. I was last to leave so I got something extra.

“Hang on New Girl, we need to talk,” she said. I stopped in my tracks and gave her a big smile. My mother had always told me that a warm smile could melt the iciest heart. My mother, god bless her, had never met a bitch as stone cold as Jennifer. My warm smile was like lighting a match and expecting it to melt all of Antarctica.
    She frowned at me.

“Why are your smirking at me? Don't you take this job seriously, Laura?” she asked. Being the idiot I was, I had to correct her.
“Lola,” I said as sweetly as I could. I could have dumped a bag of sugar over my head and it wouldn't have been sweet enough. I could almost see steam coming out of Jennifer's nostrils. She folded her arms and scowled at me.
“You know I really don't care for your attitude, Lola. I've been doing all I can for you since you got here but I don't feel like you've put in your full effort at all. You haven't proven to me why you deserve this job.”
That was a joke. Since day one I had been working my ass off to please her royal highness. It wasn't my fault that she managed to find flaws in everything I did.
I didn't say that, of course. I kept the smile on my face though my cheeks were aching and forced myself to be polite.
“I'm so sorry you feel that way, Jennifer. I guess I'll have to work much harder to show you how committed I am to this position,” I said. Her expression didn't soften.
“That's good, Lola. Because if I don't see some evidence of your abilities and talents soon then we will have to discuss termination,” she sighed and looked at me pityingly, “I really don't want it to come to that. I think you have something. That nude lip and smokey eye combo was a genius idea. You do have potential. Just do me a favor and blow me away with this 'Biker Chic' thing, will you please? That's all you have to do.”
I nodded and left the room, doing my best to hold back the tears until I could cry in solitude.

You'd think in this age of social media and stuff that it would be easier to find someone. That's what I had figured anyway. It wasn't like I had much experience in that area. I wasn't adopted so I never needed to find my birth parents. Everyone in high school had been an asshole so I felt no need to look them up and see how their shitty attitudes had evolved into shitty lives since then. I had never slept with the same woman twice so it wasn't like I had ever needed to do this for casual reasons either.
Lola wasn't the most common name in the world but when I typed it in on social networking sites it yielded millions of results. Even when I narrowed it down to my location it remained in the thousands and my Lola didn't seem to make an appearance when I scrolled down quickly.

My Lola. That was a weird thought.

I supposed that every girl was mine when I was fucking her. They always wanted me to be theirs too but that would never happen. I didn't mind reciprocating some oral after a girl had sucked me off but this was different. I was off limits. They could get fucked by me but they could have me. That was the way it had always been.
Relationships just seemed like drama to me. If the girl wasn't cheating then the guy was or someone was lying all the time or one wanted non stop fucking and the other just wanted to cuddle all night. It was a bullshit system and I wanted no part in it.
I just wished that Lola was easier to find. Maybe I should hang out on those dark roads on one of my bikes again. If I got lucky she'd be asleep at the wheel once more and she could run me over a second time. It made me chuckle when I thought about it.
It only hit me as I was scrolling through the endless list of Lolas that she had told me one very
