Most men I know would run away screaming if asked to pamper a woman for more than five minutes.”
“Because women are scarce on our planet, and touching one, and being touched in return, is considered an honor. And it shows how much our leader trusts us not to dishonor what is his.” Bron’s cock brushed her hip as he combed lotion through her wet hair.
Douglass opened one eye. “I’m not ‘his’. I’m a person not a possession.”
Harlan laughed as he flicked her nipple with his tongue. “ Bron meant sexually. We are allowed to service you in any way you desire as long as we don’t come inside you.”
“And am I allowed the same freedom?” Douglass climbed out of the bath and Bron wrapped her in a thick towel. Absentmindedly she flicked at the water droplets shining on his muscled chest.
“You can gift us with anything you want except taking our seed in your womb. That is the king’s privilege.” Sven sat on the end of the bed and laid a tray of food in front of Douglass. She realized she was ravenous.
He poured her a glass of apple-scented wine. “Our task is to keep you in a state of arousal so that the king can successfully fertilize you.”
Douglass winced at Sven’s words. “You make me sound like a broodmare.” She pictured Marcus moving over her, the hot stream of his seed deep inside her. “Why does he need me? Surely the king has many children?”
Silence fell around her. Douglass studied Sven’s face. “The king has no children? Has he not tried to…?”
Harlan took Douglass’ glass out of her hand and refilled it. “The king is not at fault. It is difficult for anyone to conceive on this planet. Our scientists do not understand why although, as Sven mentioned, there were not many women here to start with. And over the last thirty years, many families have left the planet to avoid the fighting over their daughters.”
Suddenly Douglass lost her appetite. No wonder Marcus had been so nice to her. His whole future and the future of his people could depend on her giving him a child. She pulled the towel from her hair and rubbed vigorously. She wasn’t sure if she wanted that kind of pressure. It sounded as if the king were sterile and that no one dared to admit it. What would happen if she didn’t succeed? What would happen if she did?
Perhaps it would be better not to mention Danny to the king. It might sound as if she was rubbing his lack of children in his face. Or, even worse, he might conclude that as she had a child, she was highly likely to conceive another one and despite his promise, not let her leave. She couldn’t stay here. Dammit , she couldn’t risk having sex with Marcus again either. Every cell in her body screamed a protest.
She tried to sound casual. “What about the king’s previous consorts? Does he chop off their heads if they don’t produce a child?”
“That is a vicious rumor, consort.” Sven growled.
Bron took the towel away from her and started sorting through her tangled hair with careful fingers. “The king has never taken a consort before. You are the first.”
Douglass closed her eyes as Bron kissed her throat. Should that make her feel better or worse? Speculation that the king might be infertile didn’t completely rule out the threat of pregnancy. Could she hold out until UPPS came to rescue her? Surely she wouldn’t be here that long and she had three guys to make it up to her in other ways. Too tired to think, she smothered a yawn as the food settled in her stomach. Sven got off the bed.
“Harlan and I will leave you to sleep with Bron .”
Harlan kissed her fingertips and then wrapped his silk loincloth around his hips. Bron persuaded her to lie down beside him. His hand settled over her breast.
Sven spoke from the door, his voice oddly distorted. “Make sure she is ready to receive the king when he returns. He likes her wet.”
Douglass winced. “He makes me sound like a fish.”
Bron’s chuckle was smothered against her
