birthday for me.”  She told me.
I squeezed her shoulder and stood from her bed, packed my overnight bag, and kissed her head through the covers.  I checked my phone to see if Ronnie had text or called after he left at some point through the night but he hadn’t.  When I went into the bathroom to brush my teeth I gasped when I seen the massive hickey he had left on me last night.  My parents were going to be furious; they had always warned me that hickeys were tacky looking.  Mom had even scared me by telling me a blood clot could form and kill me so, this was my first hickey.  A senior in college with a huge bluish purplish hickey.  I shook my head and tried not to scream.  I hugged Theresa softly then walked out of the dorm and to my car.  It was a two thousand ten black Dodge Charger with the windows tinted and a bright orange Harley Davidson tag on the front.  I had always offered to drive Theresa places but she practically lived out of her car so it was just easier for her to drive us places.  When I got in the car I put my overnight bag in the passenger seat grabbed my phone out of my purse and sent Ronnie a text:
Me :  NOT happy about the hickey!  Just getting ready to leave TTYL.
I started the car, put my seat belt on and backed out of the parking stall.  I had been on the road for about twenty minutes when my phone beeped with a text message.  I knew better than to check it so whoever had text me could just call and I would use my hands free system that the car had.  Nobody called so I didn’t think any more about it and jammed out to CD dance mix that our coach had given us a year ago.  When I was about ten minutes from home I called mom to see if she was awake.
Her sweet voice filled the speaker system, “Are you almost here?” she asked with a happy tone.
“In about ten minutes I will be, does he know yet that I’m coming home?”
“Nope, he doesn’t have a clue!  Just let me know when you are at Theresa’s I’ll come get you later.”
“She didn’t come with me, she had a migraine hit her last night.”  I told her.  I was really bummed out that she couldn’t come home with me.  My family was like a second family to her, we had been best friends since the third grade even when we fought we couldn’t stay mad at each other for more than half the day.
“Oh, well, hmm,” mom paused, “Park behind the club house and go chill out in one of the spare rooms.  I will text you when we get ready to head to the club house.  I’m sure Betty is probably in the kitchen so you can grab some food.  I think most of the guys are up and moving around, they’ll be happy to see you.”
I laughed, “Okay I will see you later.”  We hung up and I drove through town and waved at the familiar faces I passed by.  There was a large store building that had a For Sale sign in the window it would make the perfect dance and fitness studio so I pulled over and wrote the number down.  There was a tap on my window that caused me to jump.  Bryan Russell that was a few years older than me and also a Prospect in my dad’s motorcycle club smiled at me while he waited for me to roll my window down.
“Hey Syd, you here for the party?”
“Yep, what are you up to?”  I asked.
“Meeting up with a Nomad so he can join the festivities tonight too.”  He looked behind him at the building.  “You do know that place is sold right?”
My shoulders sagged, “Are you serious?  It would be perfect for what I plan on doing after I graduate.”
Bryan grinned, “I’m sure you’ll find something.”  He looked at his watch, “Gotta jet I’ll catch up with you later.”
“Later.”  I smiled then pulled away and looked in my rear view mirror.  Bryan was very cute in a boy next door type of way.  I hadn’t spent much time around him at the MC club but what little I was around him he seemed to be a pretty nice guy.  Rather than pull up the driveway I went another mile down
