took his phone back from Vitaly. “So, what do we really know?” he asked, as Ivan tucked his phone back into his pocket.
“The presumption is that Nardiv had something to do with it. Since his release on bail, he has been quite busy.”
“Has she been taken out of the state?”
Nodding his head, “Probably. There are too many private airports around that do not require the filing of flight plans. I have people checking on any private planes that left recently and we’re looking to see if there’s any security footage on or around the different airfields. If we can get a tail number off the plane, we can track where it’s going. We’re also checking any airports along the eastern seaboard for incoming flights.”
     “And the police?”
“Nothing useful, but did you expect otherwise?”
    Shaking his head, “No. FBI?”
“Already heard from them and they’re setting up at the office. They’re presuming that this is a kidnap and ransom case.”
    “And you?”
Rubbing his head, Ivan looked at his boss. They’d worked together too long for him to lie to him, but this was not a conversation he wanted to have with him. Sighing. “I don’t think that there will be any ransom.”
Fisting his hands, Vitaly dug his nails into his palms. After everything that has happened, his Sarah was once again out of his grasp and this time, her life was in danger. He silently promised her that he would see her safe return, but he did not think that it would happen without bloodshed.

Chapter 10
Sarah woke with a groan, as she slowly opened her eyes. Her head was pounding and she couldn’t figure out why. Sitting up slowly, she had to close her eyes again as the world rushed by her threatening to up end any contents in her stomach. Carefully opening her eyes, she squinted as she looked around. Where was she?
Swinging her feet to the floor, she realized that she was shoeless, as she stared at her feet trying to remember what happened.
She had promised Vitaly that she would meet him at the Casbah for dinner and she had lost track of the time and was going to be late. Luckily, she had brought her clothes to the office as she quickly changed before rushing out the door. When she exited the elevator, she vaguely recalled waving to security, as she headed out to her car. She was surprised when she saw a Town Car pull up and assumed that Vitaly had sent it to hurry her along. But then what happened?
Rubbing her temples, she remembered looking in the darkened interior and realizing that it was the wrong car. And then she woke up here. But where was here? Looking around, she could see that she was in a windowless office, but whose? The sound of a lock turning caught her attention as she looked up.
A man she didn’t recognize walked in. He paused when he saw that she was awake and stood there looking at her. Stepping into the room, he handed her a bottle of water before turning and walking back out. The only other sound she heard was the lock on the door as she was locked back in.
Too surprised to say anything, Sarah sat there staring at the bottled water. Looking at the cap, it didn’t appear as if it had been tampered with, as her dry mouth drove her to twist the cap off and take a long swallow. Closing her eyes, she willed her stomach not to overreact, as she took a second sip.
Once she was sure that she wasn’t going to throw up, she got shakily to her feet. Her headache had diminished and she didn’t feel as though she had been hit, so she assumed that she had been drugged.
Walking to the door, she tried to open it knowing that it was locked. She turned around and tried all the desk and cabinet drawers, but they were locked as well. There weren’t any loose items that she could use as a weapon or possible tool to break into the drawers. Sighing, she went back to the couch and sat down. She pulled her feet under her, shivering as she hugged her knees to her chest.
Where was she? How much time had passed?
    Vitaly
