went to her, gently grabbed her, making eye contact, and said, “Calm down. Everything will be alright. I won’t let him hurt you. I promise.”
“I’ll never be able to thank you enough for what you’re doing for me, Marcus.” She hugged him, holding him tight. She felt the strength that seemed to radiate naturally from him.
Just yesterday morning, she hadn’t even met this man yet, and now, here she was; his new lover. She couldn’t believe that the safest place in the world to her right now was in the arms of a man she had only known for a day. And even weirder, she found herself okay with that knowledge.

Selene felt safe at the agency. It was just about the only place she felt safe now with that killer on the loose.
It was mid-afternoon, and it was Yvonne and Lucius’ turn to scour the city for the murderer. So far, none of them had had any luck at all. There weren’t even consistent scents at all the crime scenes. However, the killings had continued. Whoever this was, really knew what he was doing if he was able to outsmart everyone at the agency.
Even though Selene was a werewolf now and technically had the ability to defend herself against any possible threat out there, nothing frightened her more than to go against a ruthless killer like this. When that thought crossed her mind, she asked Marcus, “Can you teach me how to shape shift?”
“That’s right, you haven’t attempted that yet.” He had completely forgotten to speak with her about that.
“Nope, I’ve been too busy spending time with you.” She wrapped her arms around him and kissed him. “Don’t get me wrong; I really enjoy spending time with you, but―”
“This sounds like a really bad breakup,” he laughed.
She laughed also and said, “No, of course not, never. It’s just that, I would like to know how it’s done, that’s all.”
He stepped back and led her to the center of the main room, in the large open space. “Okay, there’s two ways we can do this. Shape shifting can occur in two ways. I changed the first time I got angry, not long after I was converted.”
“I’d prefer not to have to deal with anger right now, thanks.” She stood with her hands on her hips and a smirk on her face.
He couldn’t help but smile at her cute mannerisms. “The second way is to concentrate and imagine yourself changing.”
“Gee, I’ve never imagined myself changing into a wolf before,” she laughed.
“If it helps, I’ll change with you. Does that sound good? I’ll follow you ever step of the way.”
    “That sounds great, thank you.”
Selene knew it would help to close her eyes while she attempted this. Whenever she deeply concentrated on anything, she preferred to close her eyes. It helped clear her mind and help her focus. So, when she closed her eyes, she was able to push any doubt out of her mind. After all, what else could explain the super speed and healing and her craving for red meat?
Next, she tried to concentrate on every cell in her body and willed them to change their shape. She imagined, instead of skin, she had fur. Instead of two arms and two legs, she had four legs. And instead of a human face, she had a long snout and pointed ears.
When she opened her eyes, she was lower to the ground and face-to-face with a large black wolf. Every human instinct would have told her to be frightened, but that was before. Now, she slowly approached the wolf. Her first steps in wolf form were odd, yet somehow a lot easier than walking in human form. She could see herself being able to easily run fast in this form.
When she stood before the black wolf, she licked his snout lovingly. Her human side suggested it was strange to lick instead of kiss, but every part of what she was doing felt natural, like it was already second nature to her.
Marcus turned and trotted away, indicating to her to follow. They went into the guest room she was staying in and she caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror. She walked
