The Escort Series
home by this time, unless I have errands to run. Besides, you could
have rung my cell if there was a problem.”
    Lisa
waved her hand dismissively. “Of course I couldn’t call; I wanted to wait and
see your expression when you hear the news.”
    Bea’s
eyes darted in confusion. “What news?”
    “You
won’t believe it,” Lisa breathed with a wide beam. “Today, I got a call from my
agency. Looks like the two Wallace brothers made another booking. And no, they
don’t want me. It’s you, Bea! They seem to be under the impression you work for
the agency or something.’
    “I did
what you asked me to, Lisa,” Bea said, speaking as if she was on autopilot, her
head in a daze. “I arrived, told them I was the escort sent to replace you.
They…they said they had no problem with that. I guess it all went well.”
    “I’d say
it went better than that! They’re attending some kind of new club opening and
require your escort companionship. The agency tried to explain that you won’t
be available, but they insisted it’s you they want.”
    Lisa
looked a little sheepish. “I already told my agency I got you to help me out,
and they thought it had been unprofessional of me. But now, they’re hoping you
can take this assignment, Bea. What do you think?”
    “What
do I think?” Bea echoed, glaring and gaping at her at the same time.
    “I
know, I know, it seems crazy!” Lisa exclaimed, shaking Bea’s shoulders with
glee. “But in a way, I think it’s pretty cool. They met you, and seem to like
you. Now, they want to see you again. My agency was reluctant to tell them you
weren’t officially an escort, so like I said, they’re interested in you making
the appointment.”
    “And
they’re counting on you to convince me, right? Like you did the last time.” Bea
couldn’t keep the accusation from her tone – then immediately felt bad about it. It wasn’t Lisa’s fault that Bea had had zero
self-control when it had come down to the two billionaire brothers Ryan and Jason. However, if Bea had never agreed to go in place of
Lisa, she’d never have met them in the first place.
    “I
can’t do it,” Bea said decisively, rising once more to her now steady feet. She
saw Lisa’s crestfallen expression, and sighed angrily. “Do you have any idea
what you’re asking me?”
    “Will
it be so bad?” Lisa asked in a quizzical tone. “You told me they were nice
guys. Obviously, you made a great impression on them. My agency assured them
they could get me to make the appointment this time – or any of the
agency’s most exclusive escorts. But no, the Wallace brothers stood firm that
it was you they want. And they offered to pay the agency a very generous fee.”
    Ah, the
money angle again, Bea said with inner anger. The brothers
hadn’t changed their tactics at all , she fumed .
    “It’s
not even about the money,” Lisa said quietly. “And trust me, I’m not getting
anything out of talking you into this. I just…it sounds so exciting, Bea. I just knew you’d be a hit with them – and
I was right. These guys are so rich they can shower you with tons of fabulous
gifts. You’ll be spoiled within an inch of your life. This is such a wonderful
opportunity, girl! Have you ever considered – you know, taking up this
kind of pursuit for real?”
    Bea’s
eyes snapped. “You mean, like becoming a real escort?”
    Lisa
chuckled. “Yeah, sure. I’m one too , remember ?
It’s a respectable occupation as any. It’s not like you’re getting paid for sex
or anything. That’s a different chapter entirely. And you get to keep your day
job, too. It’s just that your evenings and weekends will get a lot more
exciting from now on once you become an escort.” Her grin widened. “I know many
girls at my agency who hold down fulltime professions in addition to their
escort work. I’m talking accountants, school teachers ,
fashion models – and even dentists. This is just a great way to have fun
and also make some
